I have an old RAID cabinet in the garage. It's about 1m tall, 0.75m deep and 0.2m wide and weighs 60-70kg or more. Contains 7 full height 5.25 SCSI HDs and 4 5.25 half height double-speed caddy-load CD-ROMs. It needs to be connected to 2 SCSI buses simultaneously to run. When running, it used to hold my home fileserver's 7GB RAID5 array plus the OS boot drive, and it not only put about 4% on my home electricity bill all on its own, it sounded like a Harrier jumpjet hovering outside the flat. It was virtually impossible to hold a phone conversation when it was running. I warned about it being full height 5.25 but I guess I forgot to mention that it never actually fit in my Q610 (it would have fit in the CD space if it were half height). It's still a beatiful drive that came in a hotswap fitting when I bought it that I always thought it would be cool to have a RAID rack of them. -- Quadlist is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... (*) I know that clusters is the wrong term for Mac hard disks - the correct term has something to do with a whole lot of B-trees - but bear with me. My Quadra 840 runs System 7.1 and has a 4GB hard drive. I am sure the size of the clusters is quite large making it somewhat inefficient for storage storage. It is use mostly to capture audio from my stereo with the resulting files being fairly large so their is not significant wasted space. bill -- \/\/i||[EMAIL PROTECTED] ()\/e -- Quadlist is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... How big a drive do you want to use? Im not quite sure but i dont think theres much of a limit. You could probably put in a 9GB.
