Running execsnoop [1] in the AppVM while trying to start chromium may
give you more insight into what is actually happening. Tracing
observed behavior is often easier than digging through the source.

having to add firmware-bnx2_0.43_all.deb to the firmware directory
when installing.
As my issue with Qubes is networking is it possible for me to do the
same with the Qubes install media?

I am running a GTX570. On first boot I have the same stolen region error.
(albeit with a different region specified).
Switching to onboard VGA has bypassed the issue.
