Im running a HDMI cable from my GPU to my home theater system, and have set the
VM to use that Audio output.
Unfortunately im getting a chipping/crackling noise. I never used to get this
noise using the same setup but running windows, so i dont think its the
hardware or cable.
Any suggestions?

when i installed Qubes i decided to let whonix update not using TOR.
Is this a poor choice?
Where can i change that setting?

So a problem im having is randomly it looks like the screen saver will try come
on, even though im typing or using the mouse.
And even if i move the mouse the screen will stay black, and i have to move
mouse to the tool bar and click open windows, which will remove the blackness
only over that
