Right, the Facebook and Twitter logos are mainly so that people who
want to follow us on Facebook or Twitter can find our pages. They're
not intended to be technical support channels.

Well, the email icon isn't a mailto link because it's not that simple.
We have several different mailing lists, some of which require that
you first subscribe before you can post. So, it instead links to the
Mailing Lists page, which explains all the mailing lists and provides
instructions for sending messages to them.

It's actually a really common practice among free and open-source
software projects like Qubes. The main place for user support is
qubes-users (the list we're on right now). This is where you can find
help from knowledgeable members of the community and, time-permitting,
Qubes developers. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend
taking a look at the discussion list guidelines:

https://www.qubes-os.org/mailing-lists/#discussion-list-guidelines

Following these guidelines will give you the best chance of getting
useful help from this list and make it a pleasant and productive
experience for everyone. :)

Installation:
* Disable Secure Boot

Workflow:
* To restart and avoid broken LVMs (using thinpool), restart with
`qvm-shutdown --all --wait && sudo reboot`
* DPI is totally off due to awesome screen resolution/XFCE/14" screen.
Fedora just doesn't work with the DPI. Debian has no trouble at all.

Features that are tested:
* Sleep on closed lid, sometimes VM dies, and I have to restart due to VMs
not starting (MAC already existing)
* Dual monitors through HDMI/Displayport (monitor layout is not saved)
* USB works fine after allowing keyboard
* external mouse works directly
* Internal Mouse/Touchpad/Keyboard
* Function keys (volume up/down etc)

All in all everything works smootly except for the VM that dies sometimes.
The hardware is just awesome.

No, a Google Account is not required. Many people who use the
Qubes mailing lists never create one. If you're subscribed to one
of the lists, you should be receiving every message sent to that
list. (Of course, you won't retroactively receive emails that were
sent to the list before you subscribed.)

I just tried to search for your email address in the list of
qubes-users subscribers, and it's not there. So, it looks like your
address was never successfully subscribed, or it was unsubscribed at
some point. I recommend that you try to subscribe again.

The problem happens due to several new packaging and conflicts between F25 and

Like I mentioned I think a link in the website's footer to the support, i.e.

The "join the community" is not linked. The logos beneath that phrase don't
help me any. Should I click on the Facebook logo or the Twitter logo? I
suspect I won't find much help there.

Should I click on the email graphic, which by the way does not perform the

The Qubes project would be better served by offering a more user friendly

Hello, I am using the offical Fedora 26 template
(qubes-template-fedora-26-4.0.0-201711170141.noarch.rpm)  from the Repo and am
having problems with it.

If I run an update from the Qubes VM manager it throws lots of errors about
unmet dependencies for a few dnf and yum packages and ultimately fails to
update the template.

If however I start the template manually and do a "dnf update"  it updates all
the packages with out a problem.

Is there a way to fix the template so that updating with Qubes VM manager works?

Check out the documentation:

https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/template/debian/upgrade-8-to-9/

User-initiated updates/upgrades may not run when a templateVM first starts.
This is due to a new Debian config setting that attempts to update
automatically; it can be disabled with systemctl disable apt-daily.timer.

[qubes-users] R3.2: Debian 9 template fails to update 50% of the time

2017-12-05 Thread cubit
Hello Qubers,

I am having problems with a Debian 9 template on Qubes R3.2

The Debian 9 template is an upgraded Debian 8 from the repos as there is no
prebuilt D9 yet.   Each time I try to update it from Qubes VM Manager it fails
the first time  every time with error

Reading package lists... Done
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily
unavailable)
E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/
Done.
Press Enter to shutdown the template, or Ctrl-C to just close this window.

The only way to get around this is to shutdown the template and immediately try
an update again.

Starting it up again, it it is very slow to connect, sitting at "0% [Working]"
for up to a minute before connecting to the repos and then slowly goes thorugh
them.

Any person know how to fix this so it updates first time with out problems?

Cubit
