Today I was customizing my QubesOS and I was running into a few problems
trying to change the dom0 wallpaper. I got it to work eventually and I
wanted to share how I did it. It's not safe to copy any files to dom0 but i

It took me a few days, but I think the solution I found is simpler.
At least for getting Qubes installed. I still don't have it booting
from the hard drive, but I can do a rescue boot and proceed from there.

I already tried init 2 (too late) init S (too early) and init 1 (root is
locked).
Does somebody has a way to not start the vm or set a timeout or get dom0
terminal?

multiple displays, plays audio/video just fine, FN keys appear to work

I have two up to date fedora-26 templates, that have long since been
upgraded to fc28, that are both apparently 'stuck' at kernel version
4.14.74-1. I apparently can not set either template to a newer kernel.
