It is strange that the boot section has been corrupted. After a quick search on
google, I found this:

Of course not, I did not change any boot setting at all! that is
recipe for disaster!
I have long time ago mastered those settings in my computer, and I can
assure they are not a concern, plus they are currently optimized to
boot any os of my choice.
