I have just added a radio replacing a Pure internet radio. Sound is
much better. Controls are like night and day. My initial thought was
"I should have bought this years ago"

Normally my Radio functions as a bedroom radio/alarm clock, but when I
throw a party, I put it on the balcony, or in the bathroom, or hallway,
or wherever music is neede

I think most people understand what they're missing, actually ;)
My radio stays in my bedroom and never moves; I already have the other
rooms in my house, as well as the patio, covered for playback.
So, for me the battery

It's smaller and has a nice colour screen so is ideal as a bedside
clock/radio.
I also have the battery pack and so can move it round the house.
I've now got 2 booms and 2 radios and love both.

For occasional listening, I would go with the Radio

Radio can play more station stream formats like AAC so if connecting to
MySB.com online Radio will have more stations to play.
Radio can display album art and station art (when working).
Radio can also be used to control other SB players.
Boom has a "bigger" sound than Radio, if that even matters
I already own a Touch and boom and I'm looking for a device for the
bedroom for occasional listening ?
Go i go for another boom or radio ?
What pros does the radio have over the boom apart from the color
display ?
I wouldn't really be interested in running it off battery
