Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] WiFi connection unstable/lost on three Radios
I'm not an SB developer, just a user albeit with instrumentation. I don't dare to intrude on the development forum. C'mon! Nobody has ever been burnt for not being fluent in assembly language (I'm not!). A person who can write that kind of shell script, set up netcat to transfer log files etc. certainly is allowed to join the circle :-). I am unfamiliar with and therefore cannot write an automated install and configuration patch, or plugin, app, or whatnot. I was hoping one of the senior members on the The problem is that sometimes something like that gets lost in a much broader discussion. But when you go to the right place and ask the right specific questions, you'll likely be more successful. ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I am unfamiliar with and therefore cannot write an automated install and configuration patch, or plugin, app, or whatnot. I was hoping one of the senior members on the 'Community-Build-Radio-Firmware/' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?111663-Community-Build-Radio-Firmware/) would volunteer to do so, but these participants are experienced people who just install and configure the script, and that's it. (One fellow did, however, develop a clever analysis and 'display package' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?97791-Squeezebox-Radio-keeps-losing-wireless-connection-and-won-t-reconnect-any-ideas/page11) to graph connection failures, but that has been it so far.) They also seemed busy with new firmware releases, and my latest requests got lost in the subsequent excitement. Regarding needing a patch to the firmware, this might work, but what about the configuration, and who could or would do it? The script was designed for troubleshooting the wireless connectivity issue. I suppose an automated install appropriate for many users would by default disable remote logging. SSH access would be needed to configure remote logging for troubleshooting, or to modify the script. Could be OK. In any event, I am happy to provide support in this forum in this, the Community Build, or other topics. For example, I can try to help you install the package as it is now. First, thank you for all your support on the forums, it is appreciated. :) My suggestion of a plug-in was for the delivery of the patch, as opposed to a plug-in that affects the operation of LMS; similar to the Community Firmware update that is selected via plug-in. The other option would be the patch process developed by you for the firmware bug on the Radios. Perhaps a note saying, if you have a wifi connection problem on the radio, install this patch. Hopefully, POMdev will take the initiative to post on the development forum. Without POMdev's support, I would not be much help. Hopefully we can prevent these Radios from being sent to e-waste! Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Spontaneous turning-on
Chiming in (reviving) I relocated the logs to another machine so they wouldn't get lost at reboot and since the problem appears to be related to the Tasks module I enabled some debug options on it. What I found is that the application does not actually crash, which I kind of expected already, but it appears to enter a loop where the network task repeatedly adds and removes socket tasks until watchdog intervenes stating that some semaphore was not changed (within some set time?). At that point the last time the `ui` task was executed was 8.nnn seconds ago (normally executes 20+ times per second), so that definitely seems related. I have another two weeks before the next player reaches fatality and possibly drill deeper towards the source. gordonb3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71050 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111650 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

A new thread would also be helpful for tracking any updates to your script.
