Jay,
I'm the other Riv rider you rode with on the 7th and I plan on doing
a full series as well this year. Are you riding the Fleche in April ?
I've seen another Riv rider here in Greensboro but I have not met
up with him yet...
If you get a Riv Ride set up you can count on at least one from
Hey Glenn,
I'd love to ride the Fleche, but I haven't been able to throw together
a team amongst the usual suspects here. Are you riding? Do you know
of a team that might be up for an additional rider? If so, feel free
to pass along my email to them. And I'll let you know if I get enough
I bought one of the fancy Atlantis head-tube badges off of the RBW website
(my original one got scraped-up during transport last fall). The website
says to use a dab of Shoe Goo to glue it on. Those guys have attached way
more head tube badged than the zero that I've done, but that sounds weird to
I've been itching to trade handlebar set-ups back and forth between
the Quickbeam (Noodles) and the Protovelo (Albatross, bar-end
shifters), and am trying to come up with a creative way to do so. I
have shellac and cloth on both bikes, and I suppose I could just cut
off the tape and cables, but

Don't be put off. As far as I can tell, Shoe Goo is basically the
same clear glue that came in the Testor's tube I used to put together
model airplanes as a kid. It's suitable for a wide range of uses
beyond repairing shoes, and I'm sure it'll hold a headbadge just fine.

This is a very tough post for me. I just found out today that my job

One more set on Flickr for those interested, also for sale. This may
be the bike that inspired the Bombadil - a first year Trek 850, lugged
steel MTB in museum-like condition. Rare 24 frame, with a couple
factory upgrades. Other than tires and wires, a very original and
little used example. Trek
Ah hell Marty... deepest condolences.

Hey all,
Not sure if I can pull it off, it would depend on price but...
I'm looking for an orange Rambo in 56cm, anyone have one?

Hi There,
I'm usually not a big poster to the list, but do love seeing what's
going on in Riv-land. I live in Asheville, and know of at least two
other folks that are on the list that live here.
I'm in Columbia, SC.

Hey Randy,
Short answer -- any of RBW's offerings would be great for brevets.
All the current models are easily fender-able and rack-able and comfy
tire-able, and, of course, offer the famously svelte Riv ride, which,
as Jim notes, is whatcha want for the long miles of a brevet.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

Shoe Goo is essentially the same product as Goop. Both are sealant/
adhesives, have similar applications, and are produced/marketed by the
same company. Their gap-filling, waterproof, flexible qualites make
them popular for shoe repair, resoling, etc...
Goop is of medium viscosity straight

THAT is so cool! Looks like a great such a great race! Need more like that
for sure.
Man, I'm thinking a Hilsen with a triple and some Jack Browns would be s
helpful there. All those skinny tired crabon bikes with racing doubles...
not so much.

Bummer.I haven't worked much since November 2008 and I am self

far) and use them all the time to get around. I took the insurance off
the cars and am selling a couple of them first ( I own four) but they

Exactly! That's what I think every time I use those tires. Hampsten knows. His

That does look like a cool event. I bet a few folks rode cross bikes.
But yeah, a Hilsen, or even a Rambouillet with 28s would be better for
that than most of those bikes. I got the impression that some of the
folks did not enjoy that ride. Nothing worse than walking your bike
uphill in a road
