Here's the halfway done build. I stripped it down for an overhaul. The BB

Does anyone have a slickersack they aren't using and would like to pass on?
I'm thinking it may be a better solution for carrying photographic

So, being new to Riv-stylings, I was wondering if there is a reason to go
Nitto on the racks on my Rivbike vs. the rack I have been using that has a
track where the trunk bag slides on to securely connect to rack. It is very
quick and easy on and off.
Was wondering how you all secure things

Nitto racks are beautiful and sturdy. If, however, you're satisfied
with the Topeak rack you've been using, why change?

+1 to both. Nitto racks are great but if are happy with the racks and bags
you have then stick with them.

How do you attach bags to Nitto racks? There are loops in the botom of one
bag I saw with snaps. Is that how it is done?
Also, are there any waterproof bags you use?

I use a dry bag in a Wald basket zip tied to a Nitto rack. A bungie
net keeps the dry bag from getting out.

I use the Topeak system on my LHT commuter / utility bike and find it very
convenient. I have a couple of the topeak accessories, and have managed to jury
rig a few other things to work on the track system (like a waterproof plastic
ammo box.)
On my Rivs, however, it's all nitto and canvas and
Rivendell frames are sourced from various builders and countries of
origin (US, Japan, Taiwan), in addition to the custom frames made
specifically for a customer. I'm quite certain that these various
sources have their own proprietary methods of painting and finishing
the frames that they build.
This is incorrect. All production frames are painted by DD; the customs by

That was a long time ago. The OP asked how they're painted now. I don't
know why you're telling people that painting of Rivendell frames is handled
by the shops that build them. Grant specs them, unpacks them, and has his
painters paint them.

The only thing is, I need to get something waterproof from now on.
My existing bag got wet in the rain, and the inside, too.
I like the canvas/leather/Riv-ish bags, but are they waterproof?

I can't speak for Rivendells, but I've filled an older Carradice
Nelson longflap with the hose and had nary a leak. I am curious if Riv
bags are as watertight.

You are correct as it pertains to current models (
http://www.rivbike.com/kb_results.asp?ID=91 ). Rivendell has evolved
their painting processes over the years, however, and some earlier
frames were not painted as they are currently.

Actually, the way I read that segment, it's not entirely clear that DD do

color, then stock frames go to DD. I will be surprised if stock colors on

Hi, all: Every once in awhile I catch the Rivendell fever again. My

the other rigs in my 650b arsenal nicely. If anyone knows of one,

I've got no connection to this seller, and haven't even heard of them
before, but it looks like they're blowing out a bunch of San Marcos frames
for between $763 and $785. Kind of weird, but a pretty good buy I suppose.
