If opening up wide is important I have had good luck with the CX70s. On the
CX70s the pads are offset from the brake arm by a centimetre or two, allowing
normal road pads to clear the fork/seatstay. This is not the case on Tektro
CR720s. On my two Riv bikes, the same brake pads didn't clear the
I was enjoying the Soma Highway One bar, but while experimenting with my

Hey Andrew,
I've been waiting for more info, especially user feedback, to appear for
the Velogical dynamos. For a rider, like me, who uses lights only very
infrequently having zero drag during the 95% of the time no lights are
required seems a great tradeoff for (possibly) slightly increased
I ran the silver 9-speed Microshift thumb shifters on my MTB for two

Hello All,
I am searching for a 54cm.blue/white Rambo to compliment my lonely Sam
Hillborne. Just had the privilege of seeing one in my town of Catonsviile, Md.
The geometry looks very similar to my 1983 Holdsworth Mistral but with greater
clearances for 33mm tires and fenders.
Thank you,
I got my Compass tires yesterday, 700x32. I installed them last night.
Today I rode 20 miles on them. 50psi in front, 60psi in the rear. I weigh
about 178lbs and my Roadeo weighs about 23lbs with water, tools, etc. The
ride is sublime. They're keepers for me. We have a lot of beat up roads

I also comment on it in the comparative section.

I'm happy not to live in goathead country! 20 years ago I was at a family
reunion in Utah and borrowed my nephew's MTB. That was my first experience with
the little buggers. Just awful. I can't imagine what they must do to road
tires!

But the spines on goatheads are nothing like 2cm
long.
The CX-70 and the late model Tektro CR720 (2012 or so and newer) use
Shimano Road pads, that's why they clear the stays .
If you use canti brakes that have the smooth post type of pads, I know that
Kool Stops can be trimmed at the end so that they also clear the stays .

That's great news, Jim! My girlfriend and I are excited for the demo.

Thanks. I have a few pairs of cantis in my parts box. I'll try swapping
in different pads and see if I can find something that works. If not, I
guess I'll go for the Shimano's. Or perhaps the Paul Touring Cantis as
those are the same price and MUSA.
Thanks,

Bottom-line: fantastic tires, now with 3,281 miles of use. I've been thinking of posting this update so now while there's a review of the 32's here's my review of skinnier ones:Love the cushiony ride, and the confident handling, stick-to-the-road sensation. Note: I'm a cautious rider but these
I was thinking of retrofitting my Shimano cantis on the Soma GR with

The only thing is that Paul's use the long, mtb pads . They use kool-stop

be shortened like the regular Eagle 2's are . They likely are the same

I live near downtown Ellicott City.
I don't have one but would love to see yours if you eventually get one.
I've never seen one before except in pics.
I have a Sam and a Bleriot.
Either way, pm me if you want to do a ride with our Rivendells in the area

Rod,
That bike you describe is very worthy. I had that same model once upon a time.
I would like to point out that even if 32/33mm tires can fit under fender on
this bike. It is far from ideal; most fenders wont work, the brake choice
matters as well a few smaller factors. I eventually

Nice review! I've been very happy with my Compass Loup Loups, which I'm

I don't know a ton about snowmobiles, but I wouldn't walk up to someone and
