Thanks for the link.
That is rediculous.
I could not ride with that noise.
Coasting is quiet business.
Maybe it could work for pro racers to make them sound more intimidating to
their opponents.

The Jones LWB shows a long wheelbase can be successfuly used on a mountain
bike. I bet it will at least be long in the rear center - I’m curious what the
front end geometry will be like. I would bet that Grant will want to balance
the stability and “in the bike” feeling of a longer rear with
Looks like it’s going to be a cool bike :) The tubular fork crown reminds me of
a fancier version on some old Raleigh fork crowns.

It's squished, tho.
tire compat: it isn't designed for 3.0. just 2.8. In fact, most sub tires
are 2.6. I am pretty sure there are no trails in this part of NorCal that
require or are more fun or safer on a tire bigger than 2.3, at least at the
speeds I ride. the bike seems to fit a 3.0 fine, but

So she passed you while coasting? That's not embarrassing. I've been passed

I don't know anything about modern mtb design, but Grant & Co. ride some
comically steep trails. I imagine long stays are helpful for preventing
wheelies on the way up, and a stable "natural suspension" ride down the other
side.

Grant says it will be longish. Interesting for a 'true' mountain bike.
Are longer stays typically sought after for west coast trails?

Of course there is also Grant’s ballcock washer mod that achieves the same
thing to create a stop/rest for your hands. I just happened to have old road
levers laying around and gave them a try with great success.

Hi Jim,
Before I traded away my Bosco bars one thing I did find that helped make them a
little more useful was to tilt them back/down a bit more and install some old
road brake hoods (with lever removed) at the outer curve, essentially creating
more of a ramp/hood position in front of the

Thinking of putting Berthouds on the Rambouillet for winter riding. But
have a couple questions. Let me know what you think based on your Berthoud
experiences, please.:
1. It is a 650b converted Ram with 42mm tires. Should I use 650b fenders or
700c since this is a 700c bike frame? I like tons
*Update:*
Now that I own both I can chime in for others' to read in the future.
I love both of these bikes equally.
Both have similar Nitto/Sugino Riv-ish builds. Wheelsets very different.
*Handling:*
700cx 32 Roadeo handles better than 650bx 42 Rambouillet.
Ram is slower to turn in on fast

I run 38 mm pari motos under Al fenderson my Saluki. I have fit the 41 mm

like there was room for anything bigger. The fattys are a big tire but I

I have no idea how these fenders will fit on your bike, but I'm guessing
that the 50mm fenders you are currently running are plastic. Plastic
fenders tend to have a flatter profile while metal ones curve a bit more
around the tire and then have about a 4 mm rolled edge, so that a 55 fender
