I have been waiting for these posts! I have been living vicariously through
dear, sweet Roberta, who has been funneling pictures and texts and emails to me
so I can be included from exile here in Vegas (and I see Kai has been starting
rumors about me - definitely not true, but I do aspire to
I was trying for $800 for my MUSA canti 64 with no luck, ended up with $400
for it.
I'll never sell another bike...

It was awesome! I left the house at 4:30 after just enough sleep and caught
a couple trains to meet Roberta in NJ for a pleasant drive up to
Minnewaska. We talked of Vegas (but not too much, what with the what
happens in Vegas stays rule (though it's not so secret, so I'll whisper

My guess $600-800.

I really like seeing these pics of the East Coast RBW meetup this weekend.
Looks like some fun riding with nice views and makes me want to get out on
my Sam. There's pretty good riding here in MD but not so much with long
distance vistas at elevation.

As others will also tell you, your best bet is to peruse the list’s archives
(and maybe some eBay sold listings) to determine value, give it a price point
you can live with, and make a FS posting with plenty of info and pictures.
Good luck!

I have one of the early green Sam Hillbornes which is slightly big for me
and am planning to sell the frame to fund an Appaloosa. I was wondering
what a fair price would be or if it would be better to seek a trade. It's
a 52 in excellent condition. Any thoughts on this?

Yup, I think the future for Riv is in fillet frames with a seat lug. I'm ok
with this, but I say so as a guy getting a fully lugged custom. I'm making sure
I get my lugs now!

I'll have to work out how much to ship it, but I'll ask $750 for the frame,
fork & headset as shown in the pictures.
And this is definitely a 26" wheel bike.
Thanks everybody for the feedback.

If the 26" version of the 56cm Atlantis had about three extra cm of
effective top tube, I would be all over that. That would be close to my
grail bike.

Especially when they have to develop a new lug set for the bike. Of
course, what with their lug maker leaving the business and the MIT
frames, there may be less of that in future.

Joe - that's a good question and it will be interesting to see what the OP
has to say about it. In the meanwhile, however, here is a geometry chart
from Riv that shows the Atlantis was made to be set up with either 700c or
26" wheels, the break between the two being at 56cm, which is listed as

niche I perceive RBW bikes as analogous to Harley-Davidson, where you have a

Hey there -
Just a heads up that for the past week or so, Google Groups was sending me
a minimum of 4 and sometimes upwards of a dozen copies for every potential
post to the moderation queue. That means if you are moderated, I found many
copies of your post. Wednesday morning, for example,

I asked Grant about the Charlie H Gallop yesterday and he was happy to
answer any questions about it, saying that it would be a blend of Roadini
and Clem, sold as a complete bike.

Agreed on flashing lights. I only ever use them at low setting, on low
light DAY rides. Example, riding under trees on cloudy day.
But at all but lowest setting they can be blinding and disorienting.
