I realized as I posted this that the Hunq a) doesn't have the diagonal tube
in my sizes and b) was available in 650B in alternating sizes that I could
have fit. So those kinda cancel out in my previous comments. This is a
52cm frame :)

Cheers Sky, guess it's not the first one in great Vancouver then! Maybe
we'll have to cross paths for them to meet, Eric--would be kind of crazy to
have three Bombadils in one place in Vancouver, at least to me!
Andrew - it is a Swift Bandito and I certainly recommend it. There are a

What size is this?
I think the Bombadil is right up there with the Hunqapillar as my favorite
Riv bikes. The Bombadil might even have a slight edge, even though I have
a Hunqapillar!

I have Sky's old one and like it a lot, though I feel it is too small for

in coveted orange. Maybe all Bombas end up here?

Thanks, Julian. It's just frustrating when you sign up for a restock
notification and instead it gets announced publicly. I really wish they
would take 20 pre-orders or something like that, as with sweaters and
sometimes bicycles. There has to be a better system

Beautiful build! If you don't mind me asking, what's the bag you have on

Mark,
I managed to snag one on the second round of these -- it is a truly lovely
tool that works extremely well. I had a home made headset press made with
large washers, nuts, and all thread, which was functional but finicky. It
is now at my local co-op -- I donated it. I've used the Stein on

Brian, Peter White sells 2 different TA104 chainrings and has pictures and

I have the Switchbackhill tires on my new Sam, no fenders. Fit great.
Supposed to only take 45mm.

Paul, the bike rides great. The 48mm tires help but Even without that the
frame is just very body gentle. Handling I’d stable, a bit slower than the
Bleriot but not much and that may be me getting used to it. I’ve put the
Brooks saddle back on and all feels great.
It would be very hard to go
Very nice Joel!
Have you been able to get out on some rides on it?
If so, what are your thoughts?

Brian,
There is..I have first hand experience. You cannot mix and match
Shimano 10spd chainrings. Thus, if you a 38 am for the upper ring you
must use a 22 or 24(?) am for the small ring. So on and forth. If you
mix and match, it will fit together but you will throw the chain between
Miles,
My PBH is 88, and I think im running 75/76 saddle height. A 60cm QB would
be tall but doable with 35s and fenders, but with 48s would be a bike I
would be scared to ride anywhere other than the flattest smoothest
pavement; I had a 62 double TT Joe for a bit and had to fall off the bike

Hey Jay,
If your local bike advocacy group has a way for you to get involved that
means a lot to them - that's the in-kind gift that most bicycle advocacy
orgs appreciate most. Trust me, I work for one and if I had to choose the
monetary donation from parts you sold or having you phone bank
When I build wheels (I've done maybe 4 or 5) I just lay the new wheel next
to a built wheel and copy the spoke pattern. I may have watched a video
once; may have read something from Sheldon. Except for the one time when I
threaded the spokes backwards (elbows out when they shoulda been in)
I've got a green Clem Smith H frameset for sale. Comes with headset. Nice
shape.
$750 shipped.

The Switchback is a way bigger tire, reported as measuring over 50mm in
many cases. A more direct comparison would be Babyshoe Pass. If you can
fit Switchbacks, its a pretty dreamy tire, but if you want more of a
classic 42, Parimoto is great.
