I had a long CR-ish conversation with the SSInk rep at NAHBS in Sacramento years back (2010? 2011? I can't remember). He said that consumers couldn't order decals from them directly; the order had to come through a retailer, a frame builder or a painter. This was intended to prevent scammers

Up for sale is a used Sugino XD2 triple crankset with 172.5mm arms. I bought this who knows how many years back from Rivendell. I've become a devoted low-Q zealot, and these cranks are not low-Q (~165mm). If you want the arms only, $70 shipped. If you want me to make a crankset for you,

I shall dissent from the others who like these things. I had the one Riv used to sell mounted on a Clem and it was really stinking heavy. At the time I lived in an upstairs apartment and the extra weight when lifting the bike up those steps was quite noticeable and I took it off. Joe Bernard

I agree that frame-mount locks are very convenient, but probably best for bikes too heavy for a casual thief to lift and walk away with. Almost every Indian-made DL-1 copy had one when I was a wee lad, all stamped from sheet metal, and all with, probably, the same stamped-steel key. I last used

Thanks, Mike. Agree that $115 is rather dear for this bike, and Shimano's EH 500 is only $80 or so. Pat, the ISSI Flip 3 also looks viable -- RBR gave it a good review -- but again, $100. But for the moment, I am retrogressing back to the "SPD versus clips and straps" conundrum. Clips and straps

I considered one, but then decided that: A. For the cost, a smaller U lock would work just as well, and be more versatile; and B. Frame locks would seem to be most useful for heavy bikes (like many Dutch-style bikes) that can’t be easily picked up and walked off with. While I like the idea of

I had a Clem-like Dutch bike for many years with a frame lock. I used it all of the time to lock up in front of a store for a few minutes. It's also extra security for longer-term lock-ups because it protects your rear wheel from theft. I had a cable lock that plugged in as well. I still
