Yep - I totally get what y'all are saying and I'm not sure why I posted
here versus a separate thread. I was laid up with a head cold today and I
blame the medicine.

I don't think anybody minds a self-post here, but I agree if you're selling
a Riv you might as well create your own listing so more Rivsters will see
it. I tend to lose track of what's in this thread.

I don't know if there is a rule against this, but why not just create a new
FS post for your AHH? I could have sworn there was a message against
selling non-Rivs, but I am not certain on that atm.

You can set your brake up so the normal riding adjustment has the caliper
barrel adjuster decently 'out' or unscrewed. Open brake QR, screw barrel
adjuster 'in' to gain some clearance, then remove wheel, repeat for

you can do about the road brakes restricting fat-tire removal but deflate
the tire. Heck I have this problem on my droptube custom with v-brakes
because I spec'd a narrowish road fork..fat tires like lots of clearance!
The brakes on my wife's Betty Foy are driving me nuts. This is a stock
bike, in fact it was RBWs sales bike and it came with Bosco bars, Techtro
559 side pull clippers and Shimano levers. There is no QR on the levers and
a minimal one on the calipers This is a very poor combination as I can
Hi Joe,
If you contact Greg Parker, he can get you a frame; the Sportifs are classy
and classic-looking. While they are not designed for this w-i-d-e tire
moment, they sure look like wonderful road bike frames that will
accommodate tires suitable for randonneuring. It'd be great to see them
Tom,
Do you know if this is a Ted Durant or Todd Kuzma Heron? The site you
linked to discusses a Sportif model supposedly showing up in 2017 (third
owner of the Heron company) but I'm not clear if they ever got going.

The geometry for the Heron Randonneur--very few of them made, as you say,
Mike--is not so different from the Touring or Road models in terms of

If anyone has a Ruthworks Storm Series Micah or Brevet handlebar bag they'd

I think your question was clear! My custom with Boscos feels great for

prefer getting off and walking for a minute. There's one route to the
market and back here where I always walk one steep part and it's become my
I guess I should have made a disclaimer I am not looking for tips on fit or

your physical adaptation of physical technique with evolving bicycle

Folks on this board might already have this information, but it was a
revelation to me.
It was 48 and heavily raining on, Tuesday I think, riding from Goleta to

We came upon a surfing shop. I know nothing about

Thanks to all for your responses. The 1 to the 101 was really nice. There's
a real steep descent to the 101. Obviously not a problem going south. Had I
been traveling north, I think I would have been walking the bike up that
mountain.

Yesterday, I rode with a friend off road for the second time of ownership
of my bike. He owns a Surly Troll bicycle. We were out for two hours riding
a dirt trail above the small town of Eatonville over to the Pack Forest
through packed dirt, patches of old asphalt, soft mud and puddles. The
It plugs right in. I think they are just trying to tell you not to run a
taillight by itself, directly off of the dynamo. They are not designed to
do that. I have several different dynamos with varying headlamp/taillight
configurations and they all work the same: taillight plugs into the
You *need* to wire the tail light from the headlight. If you do not, and
you turn off the headlight, the tail light may burn out because it cannot
absorb all the power of the generator. All modern LED headlights are
designed to power the tail light through the head light and switch the tail
