I live in the sub tropics and it's hot and humid 9 months out of the year and my clothe + shellac bar tape have held up pretty well for the past two years. No additional coats of shellac and not sticky or tacky to the touch. It has seen plenty of rain and abuse. Shellaced clothe is suprisingly

I no longer even wrap my bars. I only wrap my hands. Mostly in leather and no Shellac. To be honest, my hands aren't really wrapped I wear gloves. Protects my hands and improves grip on the bars and during falls. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW

shellac is used in many applications. It's a pillcoating in certain cases. It can be found in a number of food-grade items. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shellac#Uses -sv On Wed, Mar 6, 2013 at 12:42 PM, Ron MH visio...@gmail.com wrote: I must be the ONLY poster on this list who does not

I am getting a new Sam with Newbaums and was thinking of shellacing the Newbaum's some time. How does shellaced newbaum's feel? Crusty? Sharp? Scratchy? Looks like it would encrust the cotton tape in a candy-like coating. Can the tape be removed and reused, or do you have to cut off like a

If you do a single coat it is crusty and flakes If you do multiple coats (3+) it is hard and smooth but cushy. You'd have to do some odd things to make it flake off then. You can remove it like any other tape - but you can't really reuse it (like most tape, shellaced or not) -sv On Wed, Mar

I agree with Seth. I don't feel like shellac over cloth feels crusty at all. Especially with multiple coats. Then it just has a great smooth feel which I really like. If you take the tape off after shellacking you'll notice that only half of the tape gets covered because of the way the tape

Personally I think shellac is definitely the way to go with Newbaums. I prefer the feel of more rather than less when it comes to coats. The other advantage is that it definitely keeps the tape looking cleaner for longer, a lot longer with touchups. As I like brighter colors I find it doesn't
