I'd call a 2.5mm difference in BB height functionally the same. Would you tell
someone they shouldn't run 172.5mm cranks on a Rivendell?

Right,
Bb drop and bb height are two different things. I am talking about bb height as
I measured from floor to bottom of bb shell, though it is traditionally
measured from floor to bb center

Just to be clear, y'all are talking about BB height. BB drop is how far
below a line connecting the 2 hubs the center of the BB is (syntax?) This
doesn't change with different tires.
Having said that, is there no interest at all in buying my Ram ?!? Have to
make room for my new Yuba Mundo
I think the blue and subsequent had more clearance than the original
orange and cream ones. In any event, even switching to 42mm Hetres will
result in additional bottom bracket drop, because the Rambouillet was
originally designed with 28mm tires in mind, and 650Bx42 are ~ 5 mm
smaller in
I think itsa 54cm frame

I have a 58 persimmon (orange)/white rambouillet with 650b, 42 red Hetres
that fit well. I haven't tried a fender yet.

This is very unlikely. A 42mm 650B wheel + tire has

Hi Calvin,
I have to admit I never pay attention to BB drop, as I don't pedal through
turns. Never had a pedal strike.
Best,
