I echo Brian's findings and also went to a 13cm stem for the 55mm Boscos on
my 58 Hunqapillar.

Agreed, I have a 13cm stem with Bosco Bars, would not want to go shorter.

Matt,
The only thing I've been missing since putting Albas on one bike (actually, the
Soma copycat) is a nice flat section which I liked on the drops. The Bosco has
it, but the hook section of the Alba is still nice enough. It's good, or good
for me, to have the option of stretching out a
Smitty: you echo my sentiments exactly. I'm about as upright and laid back a
rider as anyone (I even own a recumbent). All the hoopla about the Bosco had me
wondering so I decided to order one from and get some hands on experience with
it. After some tests this morning, I ruled it out
Scott,
Having the Noodles, and liking them very much, I too was enticed by the
Bosco's flat section perpendicular to the stem. Thanks for the
explanation.

Thanks for the pics. I guess Bosco's are definitely the more swept back
bar for sure.

I offer a different opinion on the Bosco. I find it to be more versatile
than the Albatross as it gives a nice long stretched flats position, and a
few upright positions. You need one of two things to make this bar work -
a longer top tube that you may find typically appropriate for your sizing,

I was waiting on 40mm of spacers and a brake hanger to come in for my rSogn
and in the meantime I put a second stem in the stack just to keep
everything in place. Since I had two stems in their I
Thanks for that comparison, Dave. I'm sure we all appreciate the effort. I
was in the maybe I should've gotten a Bosco camp, but that was before I
knew there was such an extreme difference. Sweet Rawland, by the way :)

Scott,
Does that mean you are not happy? Need something between the Alba and the
Bosco? Shorter stem? Something else? Just curious. I'm thinking I might
like a more upright position on my Sam/Noodles, but maybe I should
experiment with the much cheaper Wald's first?

Good morning,
this is not a profile shot, however it demonstrate the difference between

I think I will try the Alba's first and see if that does the trick.
I am looking forward to riding upright. Especially in winter. I wear street
clothes to ride and sitting upright would help me so the sweaters and
jacket don't bunch up between my thighs and belly.

I view the Bosco as sort of a specialty bar. It has so much rise and
sweep-back that it either fixes a fit problem (why I got it) or you get a
really upright position. The Alba is not so extreme. It's a really great
bar that would work well on a lot of bikes.

Not really any good profile pics, but I did an Alba to Bosco conversion on
my Big Dummy (threadless steerer). With the Alba bars I used a stem riser
and a 90mm stem. For the Bosco conversion I ditched the riser and switched
to a 135mm stem. Even with the drop and move forward, the grips of the
It appears most of the postings are about the Bosco bars lol. The new
kid on the block always gets the oohs and aahs but in few years
they'll be just another bar ;)
The Boscos from all appearances are going to be at least 3cm. closer to you
than a Albatross bar, and also higher of
WOW !!! I didn't realize there was that much difference.
