Broccoli Cog - so good to hear you had a great time. Would have liked to have

This year's D2R2 will be the my first. And as an added bonus, my bike
(650Bx42 Rawland) and I will get there from NJ via Amtrak's Vermonter train.
Being unfamiliar with the terrain (I've heard about how really challenging
some of the longer courses are) I'm sticking to the 40-mile Green River
I'm still in and would love to meet up with like minded riders I am taking a
very unracer like approach. May even wear "Jorts"

I've been wanting to ride the D2R2 for a long time, but work always
conflicted. This year I committed early and paid up for the 160k. I have
one friend riding the 160k with me and a handful of friends riding the 100k
(and one riding the 180k). I'm excited. I'm not riding my Riv though. Seems
I rode the D2R2 in 2011, 2012 and 2013 (115k once and 100k twice, never had
the balls for anything longer-- even the 100k is pretty challenging), but I
haven't been back since. I may make it back this year. One thing that
prompted me to take a break from it, despite the breathtaking beauty of

Yup. Two years ago, I did the Green River Tour with one kid on a trailer
bike. Last year, my whole family did the Family Ride--wife on CX bike, 4
year old in a Burley towed by my Homer, 6 year old on a BMX and 9 year old
on CX bike. My nine year old had a scare with a bad driver but otherwise

That was me on the double-top tube AHH. It was a great day of beautiful
bikes Rivs all over the course—and kindly Riv owners, too. I do wish I'd
left my 32 Grand Bois on Homer, though. I switched to Challenge 38s at the
last minute worrying over the course.

I was there on my Hillborne. Saw a Roadeo, several Bleriots, Homer Hilsens, and
a beautiful black Saluki. At one point along the Green River there were three

That was me on the maroon Roadeo. This was my third time doing the 180k
loop on it and I can't think of a better bike for that ride. I did see the
Sam Hillborne with the nicely twine'd chainstay at the finish, but that was
the only other Riv I saw. It was fun looking at all of the other set

i was there too. i did see some one pass me on a Roadeo! i rode the 100k on
a non-Riv, but saw a bunch of Rivs along the way. a double top tubed Homer
Hilsen, a Bleriot, and John on his Hillborne. it was a great time for sure.
i rode the 40 mile on my Quickbeam last year and loved that too.
i was there on my Heron Wayfarer and rode the 100k. it was a last minute
decision as i acquired a free registration from someone who couldnt make it

I'll be at D2R2, for my fifth year. It's an incredibly beautiful route, and
I highly recommend it.
Give the 100km a shot—forget that hype. D2R2 is challenging, but you can
find a bailout route if it stops being fun. Bring a map, pencil, and paper
if you're concerned. You'll find locals and

The full 180K is a leg buster, and that's the route everyone has in mind
when they talk of how hard D2R2 is.
The 100k is not easy, but it's a much more manageable route, and there are
bailout points throughout.
All that aside, D2R2 a great event. Friendly crowd, lot o' of
that is one awesome ride! I gotta put that on my list. perfect ride
for a fat tired Rivendell.
