Has any one ever rode the Amish Country Century? It's in Delaware, so I
would think that it would be relatively flat to rolling. Is that true? I
might be interested in riding it if it is on my QB.
Thanks!

I found that my Quickbeam had insufficient reach and had to convert to a
threadless stem. The bars also wouldn't go high enough, so I used this Soma

I don't think it's so much that you can't, maybe just that you might not want
to. I love my Boscos, but a bar that allows a more aero position might be
easier/faster over that distance. It might not seem like a lot, but if you've
been riding for 5 hours the prospect of shaving 10 or 15 minutes
So...how did it go with the Boscos?

Alan, I'm a firm believer that if you can tackle 75% of your target ride
leading up to it, you'll be able to do the whole thing when it counts. A
good plan is probably to ensure your bike setup is adequate for you for at
least 75 mile rides of similar terrain, and then don't make any
Hi guys -
I didn't want to let this post fade without letting y'all know how much I
enjoyed your responses - especially the cajoling, encouragement, and
stories 'bout smoking'. While I'm still inhaling, I''m also now riding the
bike to work - about a seven mile commute each way from Silver
200k in albastaches, no problems; Done two ~60mi days in the Boscos, no
problem, The upright posture really helps keep pressure off the arms. Now,
be careful where you place your brake levers to keep you from flaring out
your wrists too much.

IIRC they were thirty cents a pack

And as for Boscos and centuries, Freddie Hoffman has done more miles with
upright bars than anyone on this list with drops. See Riv Reader #42.

the intention was humorous rather than defensive, though not prevalent,
it's not uncommon today to see Italian and French riders smoking at rest
stops.

Absolutely sane. I just did a metric century yesterday on my Hillborne

miles. The Bosco's provide a much greater range of body positions to fight
or take advantage of wind and terrain while preventing fatigue. I have

Upright bars for everything! I did a ~500 mile tour on Bosco's last

I also just picked up a pair of Jones bars for my mountain bike. Haven't

I've ridden 70 miles

i've never done an official century ride, but i have done about 90 miles in
a day a few times. i also have never used bosco bars, but i do use
albatross bars. for me and my limited experience, i have found that most
potential problems show themselves somewhere in the 35-50mile range.
