I just actually checked wife’s 2010 canti hillborne. It has wtb horizons
measuring 48mm on the rims. 1.2cm space on each side at the chainstays and
considerably more at the fork. No fenders. I can’t imagine they’d have shrunk
clearances.

I had a 2013ish 51 Sage Sam sidepull. I was able to run both Fatty Rumpkin
Stouts and the earlier version of the Compass Babyshoe Pass EL with SKS P50
fenders. Not a lot of room with the fenders, but passable especially after I
installed Sheldon’s Fender Nuts and switched to Paul Racer
Sam Hillborne owner here, 42 mm tires with fenders but it is very tight.
With the fenders off, 42 is still the largest I would go.
Caliper brake model. 52cm.

I could probably get down to one bike if they made a Sam with clem clearances.

I roll 48mm Switchback Hills on my 2014 side pull Sam (Tektro calipers), no
fenders. Wouldn't go any larger.

Thanks. Vince at Riv claims 44mm max. I'd love to fit a 47-48mm but the
newer ones may not as Vince states. I realize the Clem will fit 2"+ but I
like the Hillborne looks.

My wife has an old canti sam that has 48mm tires. It could probably even go
a little bigger. When i had a 700c sam, it took 50mm just fine. no
fenders, of course. i have no reference for the new 650b canti sams
though.
