I rode one over half way across the cusa (mid 70's) with no problems
and had a couple thousand miles on it before hand. As Jeff said it
required overshift but back then over shift was totally acceptable.

There is the early pretty good Rally, then the later, really sucks bad
boat anchor version.
Check the CR list for the gory details.
I figure these were popular since most bikes didn't have the braze on
for a Cyclo.

I had a Rally on my brevet bike and it required a fair amount of overshift
to change cogs, but I got used to it. Gave me something to focus my attention
on during long rides. Like the Nuovo Record I had on a previous bike it shifted
marginally but I'm sure it would last for 20 years. I'm
Campagnolo deraillleurs are great. I run Campag on all 3 of my bikes.
Short, medium and Long cage. Compact, Double, Triple.
