I'd be cautious about relying on Google Maps in Europe. Their data quality
is much worse than it is in the US. OpenStreetMap, on the other hand, is
generally much better. So you could use something like OpenRouteService to
plot a route (note that there is a limit in how long a route you can

As I am linear and pragmatic, I also went to Google Maps to look at the
route. It does not offer a cycling option, BUT! If you choose the walking
option, suddenly the route is diverted to smaller roads and smaller towns,
and it's actually more direct than the highway driving route.
Esteban, Have a wondrous trip! I was blessed to tour Europe after high school,
too ignorant to use wider tires, and so was “stuck” on the well paved and
uncobbled path save for the jarring times I found myself with no option but
unsmooth road. Oh! How I long to tour Europe on a proper bike,

There's a great German website that has routes that are much more direct
than the typical tourist routes, but still have a focus on low traffic,
minimizing hills, and a pleasant bike experience.
