Can confirm with last two. Those ridges are in friction mode. The bumps are
ridges within the shifting mechanism which help keep the shift lever in
place while in friction mode.

I ran Shimano bar-ends for a while before switching to Silvers. The little
bumps/ridges you describe are to be expected and nothing to worry about, in
my experience. That's just how those shifters feel.

There will be friction otherwise the cable tension will move your
lever.Sounds like you are doing everything correctly so far.After
installing your cable and have adjusted the tension make sure your lever
doesn't move on its own.Make sure the hex screw is lose enough to allow
comfortable
