Like Robert, I haven't ridden your specific route through Gifford Pinchot
National Forest, but I've ridden near there, to the west of your planned
route. Nice riding, but be prepared for the lack of services. Also, I'd
take Mark's advice and ride up to Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park.

I did almost that exact ride, parts of it anyway. The climb to paradise is
a MUST! And the ride into Prineville is gorgeous.
Here's our exact route. We rode from Seattle to Portland in four days, and
took many fire service roads, back routes, and general glorious roundabout
routes.
I rode in that general region last summer and I really loved it. The route
I took though was more central in the mountains and the forest roads were
some of the best riding from that tour. The route roughly would have been
to continue on 12 to Randle then turn onto 131 continuing on to
