Using your fingers or a stick to shift, effectively making it 2 1x systems on the same bike. Allows for use of wide/narrow chain rings and works really well in my experience. Takes 3 seconds at a stop I'm stopping at anyway, usually at the trailhead or an obvious shift in terrain. Why?
