Have a couple of the mini racks. Use them on the Atlantis and Hillborne. Find them quite useful. But both bikes have braze-ons for the rack. My R14 is solid. But currently not mounted on any bike. Originally set up the Hillborne with that rack. But ended up going to a Tubus instead. Found

So I'm thinking of putting metal fenders on my Hilsen. I have Berthouds on my Rambouillet and really like them. With my Hilsen I'm thinking of putting on some hammered Honjos (700x45). I won't be attaching the front fender to a rack and I'm wondering if it will vibrate a lot. Isn't this a problem

I have had bad luck with Honjos. One set was installed by a well regarded custom builder. The other by one of Chicago's better local bike shops. In both cases, relatively minor mishaps wound up knocking the fender out of line and I was never able to get them to work properly afterwards. I

When I put Berthouds on my Ram I was surprised at how easy they were to install. They were actually easier to install than SKS. I think the Berthouds tend to be a little sturdier. And they're certainly cheaper. But man, those Honjos look nice...

I've actually found that the 45 mm Honjos dent less easily than the 50 mm Berthouds, and the Honjos seem just as stiff and secure. That Berthouds are more apt to dent than Honjos arguably supports that Berthouds are more rigid and thus less apt to vibrate. Dents happen when the metal gives

It's been a pretty good saddle for me. I'd recommend some sort of saddle support if you carry much stuff, though. My loops haven't slipped but I use a small bag (Carradice Zipped Roll) and don't carry much in there. I think I'd use a support if I was carrying much more... Steve
