Of course you can mount it up front, whether or not you like how it
handles you'll just have to experience for yourself. I have a Franklin
custom bike that takes 25-35mm tires and I tried a Nitto double strut
front/rear rack(a full size Mark's rack essentially) up front and thought

I agree with Toshi’s route. Pretty classic SoCal ride and a very casual

you through Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo Beach areas. Just south of that is
the coast of Palos Verdes. That area is also nice but more
Go for it. Visually it’ll balance out the rear rack:-)
Just don’t put much weight on it.

I use a Suntour Cyclone on my Atlantis and am quite happy with it. Was with a
Sugino triple 24/36/46 and 24/38/46 but now with a Silver crank set up as a
quad 19/28/42/45 just for fun. It works. I did have to manipulate the cage
some and file out some material on the Silver shifter bar end
I have a Sugino triple with the same gearing on my Bombadil (previously on
a Sam) and used the IRD Alpina-D on both - worked flawlessly, and most
important - it is silver and shiny.

That derailleur was made for 1980s mountain bikes. The outer chainring
would have been 48 teeth. And since the wheels were 26" 559, the hubs would
be closer to the ground. Plus the bottom bracket would have been higher
than on an Atlantis. So the chain stays would have been closer to
horizontal.
I have the Swift fanny pack and the Roadrunner Lil Guy. I love the
Roadrunner. It's my go to fanny pack for biking.

Thanks, Andy. The stem is the Nitto Hi-Riser Riv sells. The color is growing on
me, so we'll see. I'm pretty happy with ride feel. It's a '87 Schwinn Prelude

The Osprey Talon 6 works well for me. The front strap is a little thin for
hiking, but it works just fine for biking. Got it at REI.

If anyone is interested in riding fixed, I have a 700c wheelset with a
sturmey archer tf two speed fixed gear hub, with a few 12 spline cog

Late to this thread, but I will chip in as I have some recent experience

Great to hear Scott!
My wife told me I was too hasty, so we shall see. This is the first bike that
is a want not a need, so challenging for me to justify. Apparently, she has
less challenge. Sardonic grin.

I recently bought a pair of WTB Nano TCS Light FR 700c x 40c tan

not too aggressive and good ride feel, similar to the Compass Barlow Pass

I've owned both. In my experience, the tighter and twistier the trail, the
better 27.5+ is. They accelerate better than 29+ wheels. That being said,
29+ wheels do just roll over stuff better, so you're less likely to slow in
the first place.
For dirt roads and pavement, 29+, no question.
Eric
Cody: You might just try your Deershead and see how it works. I've used old
Dura Ace fds with rings as small as 38 and hand no problem shifting to and
from rings 14 t smaller (38-24; currently 42-28).
The DA fds do sit just a mm or so above the chainstay when on the inner
ring, but they don't
I am suspecting that 1) I can’t go wrong between the L and XL; 2) that a 29+
may be the bees knees for dedicated singletrack riding, but for the longer
endurance of bikepacking on 1/3 each paved, dirt, and single track the lower
wheel weight of the 27.5+ comes in at a better ballance point of

Meant to add the Cazaderos, depending on who's selling, are within $5 of
the Barlow's, which in my book is a wash.

The bike I ride 85% of the time these days is my roscoe bubbe mtn step thru
with a crust Clydesdale fork and a kid seat on the back. So 85% of the time I

I thought I remembered that the 60 to 62cm evolution was essentially just one
of their earlier attempts to get bars higher. It only had a slight head tube
extension but other dimensions remained the same.

Hello all-
I plan to build up a set of 650b wheels for my commuter as a winter project. I
am looking for a silver, 36 hole, 126 o.l.d., hollow axle, freewheel rear hub.
I can get a new Origin8 one for 30 bucks (and probably will,) but I would
prefer trade something I’m not using than buy new
I definitely have one but won’t be near my hub box for several days. If you
don’t find one by next weekend let me know

You won’t be starting fresh every time. I live in Southern California and
refresh sealant every 4-6 months, but even that isn’t starting over, you just
put a little more sealant in.
To get started, at a minimum you’ll need tubeless valve stems and sealant. You
may also need tape for your rims

to cut out a piece and put it underneath my fender to keep a small crack from
spreading, so appearance is not a big deal. My fender is about 40mm wide edge
