[RBW] Re: where is frame size shown?

2017-12-26 Thread Jamie Poolos
Thanks, all. Thought it might be stamped on the seat tube. It’s my dad’s bike.
I sold a motorcycle and bought it for him for xmas years ago. He put a couple
thousand miles on it every summer til he fell off and broke his hip two years
ago at 87. I’d keep it if it weren’t too big for me, but I’m afraid it’s got to
go. I’ll have someone measure it. In the meantime, here are two pics that might
help you guys determine the size by eye. Many thanks.

You did describe a Roadini with 35mm tires and since a Roadini can’t take 35mm
tires with fenders, I took that to mean no fenders. Roadini is a cool bike.

If it’s greater than 52 cm and you don’t get an even number, you’re doing it
wrong. I don’t remember the small sizes though. All even sizes 54 and up were
made, all the way to 68. Might have been even in the smallest as well. I seem
to recall 50’s existing.

I can’t find my old brochure. Buried under other piles.

[RBW] Re: Real ride comparison: Joe Appaloosa vs Sam Hillborne vs Roadini?

2017-12-26 Thread 'Mark in Beacon' via RBW Owners Bunch
Except that A. I did not describe the bike with or without anything. And B.
A Roadini can take any or all of these items, as can any other Rivendell.
You can have a "stripped down" Homer, Sam, Cheviot, etc. So a specific
Roadini might be set up as a "stripped down racing bike" but I do not think
of it as an apt descriptor for the Roadini model. I will agree that that an
excellent way to enjoy the attributes of a Roadini would be to set it up as
a circa 1974 stripped down racing bike! Happy Holidays!

You mean, like a frame decal?  Rambouillets didn't have the frame size

It's shown on a ruler held parallel to the seat post, measuring from the

Rivendell measures to the top of the seat tube. But if you posted a picture

Re: [RBW] Re: My low-trail Atlantis is coming up for sale...

2017-12-26 Thread René Sterental
Apologies for any confusion I may have created. I probably shouldn’t have
sent out this “feeler” to the group. After a few days of more careful
consideration, I’ve decided to disassemble the bike and sell the frame/fork
and parts separately, while keeping some of them to move to my Homer, which
I’m going to be keeping for now. At some point in the future, there may be
a decision between keeping the Homer vs. the Cheviot, but each of these is
unique enough on its own and aside from riding preferences, distinct enough
to my custom as well.

I’ve created a separate thread for the frame and fork and even though the
timing isn’t optimal, right after Christmas, and given that I’m in no rush,
we’ll see what happens.

You can imagine how I’m battling my emotions on this issue, after putting
so much love, care and money on my Atlantis. It’s just that this is what I
need to do now, so please, excuse my clumsiness.

Sometimes it’s not easy to do the right thing, but I want this bike to be
ridden and enjoyed, not just remain hanging in my garage. And I also want
to own less stuff.

Happy New Year!

René
