I’d follow their directions and see how it goes. I wrap end-to-stem, inward
toward the bike (I think - I did it today, but I always have to look at the
bike to make sure). For a while I did the trick where you wrap ends-to-levers,
and stem-to-levers, but the only advantage was no “finish” tape
I'm currently using a Mark's front rack on my Rosco Bubbe mixte but would
like something with a larger load rating. If you've got a big Nitto front
rack and want a small one, instead, let's talk trading. Of course, I would
expect to pitch in some boot.

Joe, right you are. If I didn't already have the parts I would be inclined
to wait for the new shifters.
John, thank you for your input!

I’m using them on an 3x8-speed Hillborne with Albatross bars and they’re
working out great on the outside of the bars. I did try them on the inside of
the grips and didn’t like the way the cable ran under front curve of the bars
since I like that as a second grip area. They are very long

Not much else to say. Looking to build into a SS commuter.

What Olaf said. Wrapping stem-to-ends can help if your hands tend to slip
forward on the bars—your hands catch on the edges of the tape, which
unfortunately get worn and frayed more quickly.
All of my bikes are wrapped end-to-stem.

Hey Guys:
Many thanks for your observations. I've been using a Shimano for a thumb
shifter on my Atlantis but would like to move that to a Roadeo (with bar
ends) I'm building. Currently using Silvers as bar ends and down tubers but
no experience as a thumbie.
Thank you and best wishes for a
I was able to shift 10 speed using the Paul thimble , silver shifter combo. No

The good thing with wrapping from the end to the stem is that the tape –
regardless of material – is wrapped rooftile-wise so that your hands don´t roll
up the edges outward-downward. If that isn´t a problem for you and your
intended tape, do it either way.
And a pleasant New Year!

Happy New Year from Velo Lumino!
While I've been hunkering down in the sub-zero temps of New England, I've
finally had time to update the Velo Lumino website with a couple of
exciting new products.
A few months ago I introduced a new dynamo taillight for seat-tube mounting
I use that combination and love how they work. That said, I have only used
them for old-school 8-speed configs and don't have a ton of miles on any
particular set. That said, set up as bar top shifters they are the most
accessible, intuitive and best tactile feel shifters I have ever used. I
Yep. Works great.

Happy New Year all!
Has anyone on the list used a Silver shifter with adapter and Paul Thumbie
combination? If so, how did you like it?
Thanks very much for your advice.

Back in the nearly forgotten days of my youth I recall wrapping bar tape
from the stem to towards the end, tucking a bit in the end and finishing
with a bar plug. But for years now (since I started using cork) I've been
wrapping the other direction and finishing with tape or twine. I figure the

I've had an LHT which i upgraded with a Hunqapillar frame. There is quite a
difference in handling. I always felt I was"turning" the LHT rather than
leaning through the turns on the Hunq. The Hunq handles more like a mountain
bike.
I've since bought a Hillborne since I wanted a
A couple of additional thoughts:
Yes, trainers are boring. Music or Netflix works for me.
Interval training can make for a short & productive workout.
Trainer specific tires make a difference-- besides saving wear on your road
tires, they are quieter and slip less.

Every trainer, bike, rider and manner of use creates its own situation. I
used one to rehab a leg before I could walk or ride for real.
I found the stench from the rear tire friction on the resistance roller
contributed to shortening my sessions. I was nothing near a board track
pursuit rider
The perfect companion to any Rivendell, this MUSA Burley original is
superior to the imitators that grab your seat post, adversely affecting
handling. This was one of my best ever bike purchases, you won't regret it!

It's amazing what commonality we can all find in the riding experiences you
