The "holiday sales" guy is what really set me off. Cycling is a Spring/Summer gig for selling stuff, and anybody who regularly rides bikes should know this. That money we usually spend on bikey bits when the weather is good gets spent on other people when it's cold outside and Christmas looms.

I'd go bigger in front ... and often do. Even though the size differences are small, putting differently sized tires on a bike will "tip" the bike up slightly on the side that has the larger one which effectively changes your frame angles and bar relative saddle/bar heights. So in this case,
