[RBW] Re: Charlie H Gallop!

2019-12-19 Thread A. Douglas M.
During his recent xbiking AMA on Reddit, Grant replied to a comment about
quickbeams (and single speed fork ends) that the commentor will probably like
the new bike Rivendell is designing.

It would make sense for Rivendell to release a singlespeed with the “new” Riv
geometry. It’s been a while since the Frank Jones were released.

Best,

Re: [RBW] Re: What does a BMC Monstercross weigh?

2019-12-19 Thread Adam Leibow
Scott, handling is normal/fine although I think the stem could be 10-20mm
longer to fit optimally (i go back and forth on that which is why I haven't
made the change yet). I highly recommend this bike, rides zippily like a
Homer and the color options are great this batch. It handles well on single
track. I ride it around golden gate park trails here in SF. Also, here is a
video edit I made riding the Road Plus on Mt. Tamalpais dirt roads:

Grant's blog (blahg) early November No. 30 starts off with a partial
schematic of a frame design that isn't labeled but looks like part
Roadini/Clem/Suzie Longbolt. The top tube attaches higher up on the seat
tube than the Suzie and the wheels show 700c x 2.0. With the lack of being
able to view the brakes it could be intended for long reach Tektro caliper
brakes! A mixed-use lower priced compete. Sounds like Charlie H. Gallop.

There is a 59cm Clem H for sale on the list for $600, FYI.

I saw just telling my friend that once I have a Rosco Baby I should switch my
Cheviot to dropbars ... 95% joking, but this galerías Crust Towel Rack plus
Paul Compinents build has got me thinking a lot harder about it. Great to see
some G-One tires on a Cheviot too! Mine is a much more ‘standard‘ build but

2019-12-19 Thread tc
Complete bike for $1900, plus whatever packing and shipping costs.
Includes everything shown in the pic's except for:
- Saddle
- Grips
- Pedals

I really want to sell the complete bike; but, depending on interest, could
do F/F/H/BB too, or something in between if the complete isn't getting any
interest after a week or so.

Pic's here:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/quLo3M3sRzkLEk987

I bought this pre-owned 1x8 setup from a list member this year to dip my
toe into the 650b world. Though it's a beautiful bike, there's not enough
of a difference to me, compared to my 700c bikes, to justify keeping it. I
know there are some big Saluki fans out there, so hopefully someone will
get it and appreciate it.

The paint is gorgeous; it is almost free of defects. Some very tiny
blemishes, but you have to get right up on it to see'em. When I got it, I
was taken aback by how well it had been taken care of.

Standover, with the current set of wheels and tires, is 86cm as measured
from the ground, straight up from the crank center.

Saddle height shown in the pic's is 79, from center of crank to the top of
the saddle, along a line straight up through the seatpost.

Build details:
I've put only about 50 miles on this bike since I bought it. Willing to
make *minor *changes (include or not include) some components, depending on
your needs. Let me know what you're thinkin'.

Components I bought new for this bike (~$300; 50 miles on them all):
- Ahearne+Map 610mm bar ($60)
- Tallux 120mm stem ($76)
- Rene Herse Babyshoe Pass 650bx42 tires ($140)
- Schwalbe tubes ($32)

Components on the bike when I bought it:
- Paul canti levers (green)
- Paul neo retro cantis (green spring nuts)
- Paul moon units (green)
- Suntour XC shifter
- Sugino RD 48t crank
- Synergy wheelset (both 32h). Sunrace front hub, Deore rear hub. 8spd
cassette.
- XT rear derailleur. No front derailleur.

Thanks,
Tom
