Absolutely love this build. Sort of hope that Riv does a tigged (cheaper)
Hillibike so I can add one to the collection.

Dorothy, that’s even worse - so close but so far! Any word on when those rims
are scheduled to ship? That’s really cool that you have a pair of Roadinis - an
American Roadini and a Welsh one. ♥️♥️ Hope your sister rides the Welsh Roadini

Ray, I ran the Ultradynamico Rosé on my Hillborne (one batch ago) which

I haven't heard evidence of more than the two prototypes (though I'm far
from "in the know" as well), the one which is silver-ish might be the color
but I don't see any blue in it..
Interesting that that page notes the frameset, since I was last told they
would only be offered as completes.
I adore this bike, thanks for posting it up! I don't think I'm quite ready
to give up my full suspended mountain bike because our trails are rowdy
(steep, rooty, and technical) but otherwise I'd be very tempted by either a
hillibike, or a Jones.

Grant has ranted against carbs as well but we’re still eating bread.
In my case having an e-bike makes me take far fewer trips by car than I would
without an e-bike. I’m not going to go car free because I like to drive but I
do use my cars way less these days. I have a cargo e-bike so I am

It's a matter of this isn't a Riv-sponsored group and some of us like these
new lightweight motors and batteries on our bikes. They're not bicycles in
the pure sense, they're a different thing that can be useful and fun. It
just so happens that Riv frames make a very good base for a kit.

Hi All,
It's not the beautiful Riv fillet version, but it will get the job done if
you are hoping to try some 31.8 bars on your 1" threaded bicycle.
Ordered it back in August, but too short for me after more cockpit
fiddling...
$80 shipped would be awesome!

I have to admit that both creeping old age and ignorance may be playing a

Sounds good. Happy riding.
I am in a similar boat - after leaving my grey Roadini with my sister in
Wales in December to have something nice to ride when I visit family, I
snagged the last web special orange Roadini mid September. I have had an

Keep your dream wheelset plan. But in the meantime go online and order a
cheap stop-gap wheelset because if the wheels are what's keeping you from
riding the only Platypus outside the Riv showroom that's just sad. Then
when you get the good wheels you'll appreciate the bike even more because

Oh, how depressing. I suppose I suspected delays (what with the Sams having to
go out first and all) but I’m so deflated to hear it regardless. But yes, order
your parts, friends. I ordered my wheels with Velocity Quill rims 9/24 and
they’ve been delayed until mid-December. Which is when I’ll
I saw that the delivery timeframe was updated to 2021. The good news is
that I bought my Silver crankset before the Sams dropped. Now they are sold
out. The bad news is that I won’t be building a Platypus until next year.

Hey all!
I recently set up my Atlantis with a Mark's rack and medium Walk zip-tied
to it. I double strutted the rack and have the Irish strap connecting the
tombstone to the bars (Chocos).
I have an x-small saddle sack that I love and was offered a matching one at

it appear?
Googling brings up a 404 on the Riv site and misc cartoon fish and people
photos elsewhere.

You're right. I had forgotten the first green ones were canti. For some
reason had it burned in my brain mine was sidepull. Just checked some old
photos. Nope. Canti mounts. Looks like I was using V brakes for most of the
time.
Wonder if it was because the Tektro long sidepulls weren't
I had a first edition Sam, all green with no cream or white,
pre-double-top-tubes, and with cantilever brakes. Orange and sidepulls
obviously came afterward.
Why did Rivendell start using calipers on the Sam? Cantilevers are a
natural for this, for wider tires and fender clearance, especially as

Whimsy. You love a dose of whimsy in your builds and so do I! Yay for this
really whimsical Hillibike. You’re brightening the trails right up - in fact,
you’d likely be plenty visible to the hunters in big game season. Don’t try it,
though...

I've had bad luck with some mks pedals so years ago I started switching to
DMR Vault pedals. I really like them for a flat pedal especially when out
on the mtb trails. I also got a pair of Diety Tmac on a bike purchase and
those pedals have been really great too. Both of these have bigger
Yes, I believe it was first green, then orange, solid color. Had a green

top tubes on the big sizes. That's the model I still have. Believe the next
True, the last couple batches o' bikes were from the Hillibike line, which
does have the longest wheelbases of all the Rivs, and one variation is a
step through. But i'm not convinced about the "more mainstream" and some
kind of relief from "insanely long chain stays."

Thanks guys. Yes, stable in a good way, planted and naturally following
your inputs, but not overly gyroscopically stable where you need to wrestle
the bike to change the line. So far nimble enough for my admittedly
somewhat tame single track needs--though it is currently big game season
