[RBW] Re: Kilts!

2022-06-24 Thread Philip Williamson
That sounds like a challenge. I have a MacKay kilt and a Utilikilt I never
wear. Maybe cycling would give them a new life. No chance I’m buying a
whole third kilt to ride bikes with though.
I bet there’s a caber carrier I could get, too. Some sort of trailer
apparatus.

Re: [RBW] Kilts!

2022-06-24 Thread JAS
One of the most important details here is that the kilt colors match the
Platypus! Way to pick the tartan; it's so stylish. Thanks for the
link...I might have to get one! I played field hockey in the days when we
wore kilts for games...I don't know how that tradition started, but they
are perfect for many athletic endeavors.

That rug really ties the room together.

I have a decent amount of Scottish ancestry plus it gets hot here so I think I
could swing a kilt. My wife got used to my knickers so a kilt is the next
logical step.

Hi Annie,
I just read your blog post about selling the Clem. You mentioned problems
getting it into an Amtrak rack... is the bike just too long to fit on
Amtrak, even if weight were not a problem? I am looking at a Clem but have
worried about exactly that issue.

Matches the Mermaid methinks?

The kilt actually has a hidden pocket in the front flap & you can order
with side pockets too.

Re: [RBW] Clem L Paint Crisis

2022-06-24 Thread Max S
Something similar just happened here, too. In my case, I'm the buyer; the
frame was damaged enough - deep gouge in the top tube that resulted from
something hard smacking and dragging / digging into it - that even if I
just paint over it with nail polish, you'll see the huge dent.

I don't know whether I'll get reimbursed by the shipping company (due to
obvious damage to the box, which I documented in my damage claim) or by the
seller (a facilitator who did the packing, who seems to have done a decent
job on their end). But this bike was intended as a gift, so I'm proceeding
with having the frame repaired and potentially repainted entirely anyway.
It hurts financially, but I'm hoping that the years of enjoyment to follow
will make up for it.

Good to know the Salmon pads squeal for lots of people. This isn't my first
fight with salmon pads on motolites, but it's the first time I asked about
it. I'll just swap out the pads like usual, and there will prob be a free
for shipping salmon pads post here once I get everything sorted out. I have
at least 2 sets to get rid of now.

Wally, the dual compound mountain pads are my go to. I haven't had any
problems with them squealing before. There must be something about the
shape of the thinlines that leads to the squeal.

This resonates with me because I have 4 bikes that are *slightly* different
flavors of the same bike - Riv MIT Homer, Crust canti romanceur, crust
canti lightening bolt, crust dreamer (the two canti crusts are so very
similar). Granted, some mix of geometry there, but any of these bike could
be set up as a commuter, grocery getter, road bike, or rando bike. I've
been feeling guilty lately for owning these and spending money to build
these out... shouldn't I be satisfied with one great all around bike (which
any of these are) ?!?! But I love all 4 for different reasons and they're
each set up differently so, what can you do?
