No specific help here - other than I'd have a shop set them up. My LBS told me
they'd set the beads with their compressor for free. When the time comes, I'll
gladly pay them to set them up all the way.

I might be complicating issues by using a 9-speed derailer, but that really

Edwin,
I have a Shimano Deore 122.5mm bottom bracket (looseball, comes with
everything though) you can have for the price of shipping.

+1 to what Scott said. Get a crank without rings if you know exactly what
chainring configuration you want.
Here's a reasonably priced Sugino option:

While technically a single ring crankset, it can be setup as a double (I've

Self-promoting here, but I have a selection of Willow chainrings that would
fit that. I've set it up as 46/34 and 49/34.
It's a 110 bcd crank, so any 110 bcd chainrings would work.

Just to be clear, the Sugino crankset I linked to really is designed for a
single chainring, but there is a slight shelf (? not sure of the term) on
the inside of the spider for an inner chainring to sit. It doesn't come as
far inboard as a regular double, but it is enough to keep the chainring
I think there was a Blug post at some point about the crank arm lengths -
basically since they were have them made from a new design they could
choose any length they wanted, hence the non-standard lengths.

Finally sort of got my Clem built up - I was itching to ride it but had

No photos as it got too dark.
As far as the ride
I think folks are putting single speed freewheels on hubs designed for
multi-speed freewheels, then having difficult getting the tool over the

My understanding is that the upper fork mounts are a standard distance from
the fork crown hole. Meaning, it will fit, but the angle that the rack sits
will vary slightly due to head tube angle.
I'm hoping to get a Haulin' Colin when the next batch is ready.

Weird indeed. Did you order it with the Clem blue option? That's definitely
different than the Clementine turquoise. Maybe a mixup with the frameset
only option?

Came to the conclusion on my commute this morning that Clem can fill my
larger tire needs and I should turn my Redwood back into the 700c wheeled
bike it was intended to be and not get by with 1mm clearance at the

I'm going to install P50s, only because I happen to have a set that aren't
going on their intended bike - will probably get larger ones at some point.
I'm only using 42mm tires to start though.
