My recollection from riding across Colorado is that the western part is all at

It was the basket, bro. "Dudes" and "guys" may ride Quickbeams (fixed
gears are very hip), but only old guys heading home from the coop use
baskets. That's MHO.
P.S. On a related note, I rode my Rivendell Road to the Vallejo ferry
and into SF on Saturday. Once I arrived in SF, several p

If you've used both Panaracer Paselas *and* Roly Polys, I'd appreciate
your help with a brief, three-question survey. I'm trying to decide
which tires to use.
The survey is online here: http://www.opinionpower.com/Surveys/179057824.html
I'll send out the results as soon as I enough results.
If it's been a particularly long ride, I will at least hose the bike
down to knock the mud and dirt off. A quick washing with warm soapy
water if it's particularly dirty. ALWAYS dry it off.
I generally don't worry about applying lube to the chain until after
it's had time to dry. Water i
Thanks to everyone who responded to my tire survey. Here are the
results:
ROLLING--Pretty much a tie here. Early results showed the Roly Poly
far ahead, but with 11 responses tallied, the Pasela is actually in
lead, 6-5.
FLAT RESISTANCE--Clear win for the Pasela here, with 60% of the

This photo shows a CatEye blinky fastened to the Nitto rack on my
Quickbeam. I used a "P" clamp wrapped around a little bit of rubber
to fasten the taillight. It's been on there for a year now and hasn't
fallen off yet ...

At PBP last year, there was a rider whose Rivendell Road Standard
cracked and broke at the junction between the top of one of the
seatstays and the seat lug. He cobbled together a fix involving a
screw and a hose clamp and was able to do the ride (I lost track of

On Nov 26, 2008,
Just in time for the cold weather! I have a pair of lightly used
Moose Mitts that, with the recent sale of my one and only mountain
bike, I no longer need.
What are Moose Mitts? They are fleece-lined gloves that go on your
bike (they're secured with velcro). You fit your hands inside, wh
