The Wald bags aren't bad and relatively cheap at $41. I've had one for a
couple of years now. It lives outdoors a lot and the color has faded but it
seems to be holding up well. I'm not real hard on it.

Hey all,

I'm moving into a smaller place and need to make room so I'm hoping
somebody here may like to have these old Rivendell Readers, issues #21
through 34.

If you're in the Sacramento area, we could arrange some sort of drop off.
Otherwise, I'll ask for the cost of shipping these. I don't know what that
would be, probably Media rate, but I can't give you an exact number right
now.

Anyway, PM me off list if interested.

Thanks,

[RBW] Re: Dropbar width

2019-08-20 Thread George Cline
Here's another data point...I have a PBH of about 88, longish limbs and average
torso. Also, I'm 63 so not as spry as I used to be. however, I've used bars
around 42cm consistently for nearly 40 years! So maybe those 42's will work
fine for you. I didn't care for the 44cm Noodles I was given, I don't really
care for the overall geometry of that bar, and I didn't find any advantage in
the increase in width. That also applied to some 44cm Cinelli's I had in the
past.

But always inthese matters, YMMV!

Re: [RBW] Single speeds

2019-01-19 Thread George Cline
I prefer riding a fixed gear on windy days. I kinda believe in the "flywheel"
affect, it seems to help in those conditions. It also helps in climbing over
short hills.

One other benefit of fixed gear riding, for me anyway, is that it helps in
dialing in your riding position... especially true on fast, long descents!
You'll know very quickly if your saddle height isn't correct.

[RBW] Re: WTB: Carradice Camper Longflap or something similar in volume and design

2017-11-03 Thread George Cline
Lum,
That article you mentioned sounds just like a story I read in an old Cyclist
magazine from the mid 80s, it was written by Ed Stiles, an episode from his
excellent Tourlines series for that mag.

Cyclist was a great read for a while, and Tourlines had a distinctly BOB-ish
flavor to it, way back then.

Historicity? I don't think it's Japanese, but it did feature prominently in
Phillip K. Dick's "The Man in the High Castle."

[RBW] Help pulling Sugino triple crank

2016-11-30 Thread George Cline
I have found that same problem. Your solution of sticking something on the end
of the spindle should work. I used a large ball bearing to do the same thing
and it worked.

I now use an old Sugino crank extractor which seems to work better, for some
reason!

Re: [RBW] Just ride!

2016-11-25 Thread George Cline
I definitely find it now takes longer to warm up, (I'm 60). I feel a little
sluggish during the first few miles of my rides now, but the good news is I
feel great at the end!

[RBW] Re: FRAME..PUMP?

2015-01-15 Thread George Cline
I've used Silca and Zefal in the past; but has anybody else noticed a
problem with rattling when the Zefal is mounted horizontally? Mine have
seemed to be prone to that, (They are the longer length models FWIW). It
bugged me enough to switch to vertical mounting.

Now, my favorite is the Two Peak Road Morph with gauge...
