A few nibbles, but no takers.

Another bump and a price drop, $1200 shipped in the US.

Also in the market for an Atlantis or Appaloosa sized for an 88pbh

[RBW] Re: WTB: Nitto Saddlebag Grip R50

2024-02-29 Thread Michael Ullmer
Sorry to hear it's been discontinued! A list member came through and I'm
all set. I see that Ben's Cycle is all sold out now too. Such a bummer for
a well functioning piece by Nitto. There doesn't seem to be any equivalent
either. One of the nice things about this too is that it can lower the
attachment point for the bag (which I need on my Ram).

Re: [RBW] Experience with North Street Bags backpack panniers?

2024-02-28 Thread Michael Ullmer
Hi Robert,

I used the North St Backpack Pannier for a few years and really liked the
design and versatility. If I was ever going to go back to a
pannier/backpack setup, this would be first on my list of bags to use.
Highly recommended!

Love that you opted for cantis on this frame. The mix of silver and black
components is spot on.

Did you get the tubing specs from Riv/Mark as well? Curious what was spec'd
for this.

Very classy build, Bill! I love the boldness of the pink and the contrast
with the cream.

Do you know what your max tire size will be with/without fenders? And I
assume its built for a 700c wheel?

Can't wait to see it with fenders!

Re: [RBW] Re: New Bike Day - 2002 Size 60 Rambouillet

2024-02-14 Thread Michael Ullmer
Long overdue update to this post. The Ram has taken on a new configuration
as of a couple weeks back, thanks in part to a counter-bored WI inner ring
from one our very own Bill Lindsay.

I switched the wheels on here from 700c to 650b with the help of Tektro
Long-Reach brakes. After a brief experiment with 48mm Switchback Hill tires
which DID fit (sans fenders), I've settled on 42mm Pumpkin Ridge tires with
SKS Fenders. Thanks to the counter-bored inner WI ring, I was able to use a
narrow 108mm WI Stainless Steel Bottom Bracket. It currently has 48mm
Noodles, though I may go to Albastache in the near future. Gearing is SRAM
10speed with bar end shifters. As always, I'm continually impressed with
the versatility of this bike. With my former camper/basket 26" Fitz up for
sale, I'm planning on fitting this out with a rear saddlebag and front
basket to see how it handles commuting duty. Long-term, if I can acquire a
Riv more suited to the job, this will go back to a rackless adventure bike.

[RBW] WTT: Nitto R-14 for Marks Rack

2024-02-14 Thread Michael Ullmer
I'm planning on converting my Ram to a basket bike now that my Fitz is on
the chopping block. I have two of these R-14s and hoping to trade one for a
Marks Rack.

Anyone holding?

Or if anyone has a Marks Rack minus all the hardware, I'd be happy to just
buy that outright and use my R-14 hardware on it.

[RBW] Fitz Cycles All Road 56cm 26"/650b Disc Partial Build and Wheels

2024-02-14 Thread Michael Ullmer
This is cross-posted from the i-bob list. Hoping to pass along this
frameset and wheels to fund a near-term Spring Break trip for the fam down
to Mexico. Long-term, this bike's place in the stable will be replaced with
a properly sized Atlantis or Appaloosa.

This is one I never thought I'd get rid of, but I have to admit it's not
the right size and it's not getting much ride time. I bought this from John
Fitz, but I'm the second owner. Here's the original color/build (
https://www.facebook.com/FitzCyclez/posts/958878954200930). I reached out
to have him build me a fork similar to the one that was on this bike, but
instead he happened to have this frame/fork available. He
re-powdercoated it for me, built the custom rack and added a bunch of
braze-ons. Here's what's included with the sale:

1) Frame/Fork
2) 1 1/8" Silver Chris King Headset
3) Custom Front SS Rando Rack with integrated light mount and wire guides
4) Velo Orange 26" 60mm Smooth Fenders with Ruthworks Mudguards
5) Matching Green Powdercoated Truvatic 110mm 26.0 Stem
6) Maroon Powdercoated xxmm Stem 31.8 (this was the previous powdercoat
color)

Frame/Fork Details:

TT - Columbus 28.6 8/5/8
DT - (unknown) 31.8 9/6/9 or 8/5/8
ST - Nova 28.6 9/6/1.2
SS - 17mm true temper
BB - 68mm BSA Paragon
Paragon Dropouts front and back
Fork Blades - Disc specific Nova fork blades 1.1 wall thickness
Fork Crown - Pacenti MTB Fork Crown
Braze-ons - lighting guides on fork blade and under downtube, three bottle
bosses, pump pegs on non-drive seatstay, low-rider front rack mounts,

Takes a 27.2 seatpost, 28.6 front derailleur. Built around 160mm rotors
front/rear. It clears Compass/Rene Herse Rat Trap Pass 2.3" Tires easily. I
never ran with 650b, but was told it would do 650bx48 just fine. I've used
this as a drop-bar enduro all-road and an upright basket cruiser with Nitto
Albatross bars. It handles great with a rear rack and big saddlebag (I used
a large Sackville).

Frame is in great shape, all threads clean and no dents/dings. Never been
crashed. The powder coat is probably 8/10. There's some worn away on the
drive side chainstay, and the non-drive side inside chainstay from the disc
rubbing. There's a few other spots where the powder coat has been rubbed
away, but overall pretty good.

Wheels:

26" Disc 28H Nextie 26" i30 carbon rims laced to SP PD-8 front,
BikeHubStore BX106R rear, using silver Sapim Laser spokes & nipples. Rims
are true and all spokes are in good tension. Come with Rene Herse Rat Trap
Pass 2.3" Tires set up tubeless. Tires have 1000+ miles on them, but treads
are in good shape. Deore XT Skewers. 160mm rotors, 6-bolt front, centerlock
rear.

[RBW] Re: Tigr locks--do you like them? On sale today

2023-11-27 Thread Michael Ullmer
I have the Tigr Mini and have used it for the past 4+ years. It seems quite
secure and allows me to get a front wheel/frame locked in most cases. I
usually pair mine with a cable to get the rear wheel. I'd recommend it if
you'd like to shed the weight of a heavy Kryptonite u-lock.

[RBW] FS: Mission Workshop R6 40L Bag with Accessories

2023-11-02 Thread Michael Ullmer
I cobbled this R6 together with all the accessories I could ever want, but
I'm not a big fan of the Arkiv system and prefer my fully integrated
Blaqpak Backpack for winter commuting duty with a backpack (which started
this morning with a brisk and icy ride into Downtown MPLS on a well used
1x1).

Bag itself shows nice patina, no rips/holes in the waxed canvas. All
straps/zips work great. Comes with:

R6 40L Brown Waxed Canvas Backpack
Laptop Sleeve
Rolltop Side Pocket
Vertical Side Pocket
Waxed Canvas Tool Pouch
Removable Hip Strap
Cobra Buckle

Total retail value of backpack with all accessories - $675 plus tax

Looking to get $300 plus shipping costs via Pirateship.

I concur! I got mine over the weekend and went with a size 13, though I
usually wear size 11-12 in most shoes. I compared the length with the Size
11 Crocs that these are replacing and the size 13 Mountain Clogs were the
same length.

[RBW] FS: Rene Herse 9-12 Speed Double Cranks 177mm 48/33

2023-10-27 Thread Michael Ullmer
I'm going a different direction with a build and sticking with White
Industries cranks. These have no miles on them. 177mm length and 48/33
rings. More info here:

I was sold these thinking that they were the Double Crankset version, but
based on the 48/33 stamp on the outer ring, I believe they're actually the
9-12 speed type.

https://www.renehersecycles.com/shop/components/cranks/rh-11-speed-double-cranks/

$350 plus shipping via Pirateship

For trades, I'm looking for Short Pull Post Mount Paul Klampers in black.

PM off-list

[RBW] WTB: Aluminum Albatross Bars

2023-09-21 Thread Michael Ullmer
I seemingly missed out on a few sets of bars that were for sale on the
list. Anyone have a set of Aluminum Albatross bars? I'm ready to switch up
from my Albastache setup on my 650b'ed Trek 640.

PM off-list

Thanks!

[RBW] Chrome, Ibex, Icebreaker, Riv Clothes

2023-04-16 Thread Michael Ullmer
Cross-post from i-bob

More clothes from the bin, all mediums. Prices do not include shipping.

1) Riv Wool Baselayer, Striped Light Purple Medium - $35
--Bought this off the list and wore it a handful of times. There's a couple
small holes, but otherwise in great shape.

2) Icebreaker Merino Short Sleeve Button Up - $35
--In great shape, holes, rips or tears.

3) Ibex Merino Hoody Dark Green - $60
--Two hand pockets, thumbs holes, full zip. Very soft on the inside. Two
small holes but otherwise in great shape.

4) Chrome Warm Reversible Workshirt Blue/Gray Size Medium - $50
--In great shape, I just didn't wear it all winter and needs to go. Here's
a link to a review:
