I use Challenge Paris Roubaix tires on my Rambouillet. They are labelled
27mm but measure 29.5mm. My fenders are Berthoud carbon fiber, only 25mm
wide, but then this is my good weather bike. I would not recommend anything
wider than these tires with any fender on the

There is no perfect winter tire.
As for fenders and snow packing up under them, the rear-most edge of the
fender should be closest to the tire. That edge will scrape off snow and

If the dropouts are moving while you tighten the skewer, the dropouts are
out of alignment. Take the bike to a competent mechanic to have the

I think the solvent is not such a good idea. I've had success using Finish
Line Pro lube with teflon. Solvent is fine if you can be sure you get rid
of all of it after cleaning, including under the roller, which might not be
such an easy task.

We expect to receive our shipment of Nokian/Suomi A10 650b x 40 tires on or
about January 31. We will be receiving 40 of these. Awfully late in the
season but at least we'll have some available next winter. ;-)
