Sorry for the delay. I have been out of town. I just threw the mirror on
my basket to see if I would like it there. I figured I'd find a more
elegant solution if it worked well. That was a thousand miles ago and it's
still there. One of these days...
Here's a few pictures.
I had my cell phone pop out of the holder I'd secured in my basket. I was
crossing a very busy road with three lanes of traffic in each direction so
I scampered across the street without my phone and watched 50 cars or so
miss it before a truck came along and squished it like a bug.

I have one mounted on the basket on my Sam. I just put a small PVC
coupling in the basket so it had something round to attach to. I can view
it well from any hand position on my noodle bars. It gets in the way once
in a while but I expect that would be the case anywhere it was mounted.

comfortable both on and off the bike here in hot, wet Florida.

When I ride my racy road bike (which is becoming more and more infrequent)
I ride a pre-determined route and follow it closely. When I ride my Sam
Hillborne my experience is more like yours. I follow my nose and ride by
the ripening strawberry fields. I turn down roads that I know are dead
