[RBW] Good commute on the Hillborne
Pleasant surprise seeing you as well, Eric. The new creamy Hillborne blue looks much in person. I didn't realize I was playing the pacer there. I usually think of myself as a garden variety chugger-alonger! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Re: [RBW] Good commute on the Hillborne
Doug, You were definitely more than just chugging along. Now I'm more of a dawdler when riding. You were doing well over 17mph on that stretch. Was going to say something earlier, but traffic was such I didn't want to startle. New tires (Schwalbe Baby Big Bens) showed up today, so they are now on the Hillborne. Have to wait until tomorrow to test them out. When it will hopefully not be snowing and/or raining. Also get to try out my new (to me) saddlebag. (Thank you! Re: [RBW] Good commute on the Hillborne
I was eyeing the Little Big Bens as well for my new AHH build but decided to try the Vittoria Randonneur Hypers (mentioned in an earlier thread here re: wide 700c supple tires) instead. Got the 700 x 38s, about 37 mm actual on Sun CR18 rims. They look a lot like Marathon Supremes. I'm aiming for a maiden voyage for the Hilsen on Sunday, we'll see. BTW, meant to say the creamy blue looked much BETTER in person than in web photos. Please post with your LBB impressions. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Good commute on the Hillborne
No photos, but had a good, extended commute on the Hillborne today. Ended up heading down to Hiawatha Cyclery after work to purchase a few items, two of which, Nitto bar end plugs and King bottle cages ended up on the Sam Hillborne. Then while riding home, ended up drafting list member Doug Magney who was on his Hunqapilar. We ended up riding together for a couple miles. Made me chuckle in that there were two Rivendells riding together and each bike had an extra tube. BTW, Doug is a fast rider, which you'd never guess looking at the Big Apples and Albatross bars on the bike. Was struggling just to keep up. 30 miles today and still no urge to make any radical changes to the setup. Have changed a couple items around and added a kickstand, but that's about it. This is pretty rare for me. Most bikes have one setup, then the second and maybe a third before I settle on something. Even my SimpleOne has a new stem and bar. (Which reminds me, need to get that bike out of the garage at least once in the near future.) Only worry so far with the Hillborne is am liking the flat bars enough that my drop bar bikes are getting totally ignored.
