designed for all that air the curve of drops or Moustache/Albastache provides;
when mounted at the straight part the lever bottoms out on bar before you're
done braking.

In order to get my albastache bars a bit higher and closer, I run them "upside
down" or flipped. You could swap in a stem with more rise and that could get
you the height/reach that is more comfortable while keeping brake levers out
