Dirt on the frame and shiny bits:
I am a Felix converting towards an Oscar. Dirt bike drivetrains stay clean and
lubed and big chunks of dirt/mud are removed from the frame, racks, wheels.
Road bikes are kept much cleaner, but not immaculate like in days past. After a
wet ride, I spend 15 minutes wiping and lubing, 10 minutes

You've seen my bike. I'm definitely an Oscar. I ride dirt trails for part of
my commute which is a losing battle. I am pretty careful about cleaning the
drive trains once a week (or so).

When I purchase a new bike or frame, I'm obsessively Felixian. I strive for
perfection in the build and often use helicopter tape on sections of tubing
most likely to get scratched. After a month or so, I remain mechanically
obsessive but aesthetically indifferent. I don't like scratches and

don't clean it much or mess with it until something wears out or I get another
