Re: [RBW] Goals for 2012

2012-01-02 Thread robert zeidler
Well, let's see
1. Do this weeks 200k and enjoy it. 10-11 hours would be good.
2. Back in CT, do some events from the Berkshire,Boston, and VT Brevet
series.
3. Get more embedded with this crowd. It will be much easier to be
consistent if I can do this. However, I still find a low tolerance out
there for breaking into cliques. People still treat their rides like they
are prepping for the Tour, and while I like riding hard, I also like taking
pics, and being able to look around. I already have a job, this is a way of
offsetting the work experience.
4. Maintain good form but have fun doing it.
5. Do the Farmlands Century in NJ,
6. Sign up for Adventure Cycling CO Canal tour next Sept.
7. Attend the Riv Rally in PA.
8. Ride TFCE in RI.
9. Wander around VT a bit, as well as central MA.
10. Maybe do the D2R2.
11. Drop maybe 10-15 more lbs.

Whew!

I do ride my bicycle but never more than 50 miles and usually between

the biggie here important but probably only accounts for 20% with
maybe 70% food choices and 10% proper sleep and stress reduction.
Bicycle goals, build a cargo bicyclesell a few bicycles, ride a
little more consistent because I enjoy it. Try some overnight bicycle
 camping trips.

Re: [RBW] Goals for 2012

2012-01-02 Thread Smitty-A-Go-Go
My bike related goals for 2012 involve adventures I've been scheming on...

Do a proper s24o
-- I've driven to places and ridden the bike along a closed road to camp.
I've done backpacking trips that had bicycle segments to speed a road walk,
but never a proper s24o riding from my garage to a local camping spot.

Do some sort of mini-tour/ s96o ride to/from/along the OR Coast.
-- The house I grew up in was 3 miles via MUP to the sandy beaches of
Huntington and Newport Beaches in Orange County, CA. Then I lived in
Seattle for 10 years... never more than a couple miles from Puget Sound. In
both those places I frequently rode my bike to the sea shore. This past
fall, my wife, children and I moved to Portland, OR. There's a lot of water
around but without salt in the air I sort of feel land locked. We're about
2 miles from a nice little park/beach on the Willamette River, but it's not
saltwater. It's not the same. I've been researching options to bike
to/from/along the coast.

cheers, Smitty

Hmmm. Goals.

I'm not a goal oriented guy, so my goal will be about the same: have fun
riding my bike.
