anything I've bought from Japan has been shipped express mail and arrives quickly. +1. First rate service. Not only did my package arrive today, but I got timely emails informing me of the shipping status. The ordering process was the same for me. I got my tires in less than 36 hours to receive, not bad service for free shipping. Another plus was the mailman came when my wife wasn't home. : ) They look nice, but i am going to wait till I need new tires to mount them. I bought them because I couldn't pass on the sale. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Count me in too. I ordered a set of 28s (agreed, wanted 30s but were sold out) and two of those nifty Cateye solar battery fender taillights for $15 a pop. Total with shipping came to $112 after paypal currency conversion fee. I could have gone crazy with scope creep after clicking on all their stuff, and blown $1000. Thanks for the heads up Michael, I received an invoice for a pr Shipping to the States is fairly reasonable ~$10. The note said that the tires are about 10% heavier than claimed thus the discount. I have been riding the regular Cerf's and Cypress and thought they're already pretty nice, especially if you paired them up with latex tubes, either Vittoria or Challenge. Can't wait to try the extra leger. I wonder if these work as tubeless? [RBW] Re: GrandBois tires on sale at Grandbois
Sean, I can't make a direct comparison since I haven't owned tires of either brand in that exact size, but I can tell you that the new Compass Pass 42mm tires do surpass the ride quality of the Grand Bois version they set out to improve upon, so my guess is that the Compass will be superior when comparing the other sizes as well. But if the Grand Bois tires can be had for around half the price of a Compass with about 95% of the ride quality, sounds like a good choice to me! [RBW] Re: GrandBois tires on sale at Grandbois
Anton, I appreciate your response. Using pretty much the same logic as you - I decided to order a pair of the tires. The ordering process, unfortunately, is a bit complicated. Basically, after placing my order, I received a confirmation email from Grand Bois. If I understand things correctly, I will (at some point) receive a second email telling me what my final cost will be - specifically adding shipping charges (which were not given in my initial order) and subtracting Japanese sales tax. After receiving this information, I will be invited to finalize the transaction by paying with my Pay Pal account. The process does make me a bit nervous. However, it does seem that I can back out if the shipping charges are too high for my liking. The transaction is a bit complicated, but the deal is pretty darn good.
