Benedikt, I'm not sure why mine is peeling. It could have been caused by me, as I have a stand, and I theorize that I might have unthinkingly clamped the bicycle on the decal, instead of on the seat post. Oh well. It appears that the conventional wisdom is leave it alone - don't try to somehow scrape it off. I guess that's what I'll do. As I lift the bike and the tube moves in my hand my wedding ring scratches right across that decal. I don't know if this sort of thing is happening to you but could be. Brian P. [RBW] Re: Question re Decal Removal
There is definitely a Rivendell thing where they admire the worn out. And it appeals to me too. Especially if you rode the bike 5,000 miles and the decal got chipped. I think it shows (1) that you actually ride your bicycle; and (2) that you 're not such a mindless consumerist that you need to replace your bike every year. Faded, worn out, blue jeans have been popular, I theorize, for the same reasons. But this doesn't mean that I'd want a hole in my blue jeans when I walk out of the store. My Atlantis is relatively new. Clearly a matter of taste, I concede. On Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 1:41:33 AM UTC-5, Joe Bernard wrote: That's Grant's thing. Rivendell sells hatchets. Amazing the fine work that can be done with a keen edge and good hand. Grin. I'd call it beausage and be done, but then I generally don't even notice things like that. [RBW] Re: Question re Decal Removal
That really sounds like a question worth calling Rivendell. As unattractive as a damaged decal may be, leaving well enough alone may be better than damaging the clear coat or paint. Time for advice from the pros. dougP On Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 1:05:20 PM UTC-7, Jim S. wrote: Hello, I was wondering if anyone has experience dealing with a damaged decal.
