Agree with all here. My Schmidt 28 hub and Edelux are two favorite
accessories on the bike. If I were to do it again, I would lace them up
with disc hubs (and rim brake rims) to give it more versatility. But SON28
up front and XT rear, with Pacenti 23 rims--no complaints.

The 650b aeroheat rims are pretty fantastic; They may not be classic but
I'm a big fan of 'em. Super functional. 36 hole, but I think 32's available.

I should also mention that they seat those supple tires with great ease;
Far easier than the older synergies.

Two sets (one for the Quickbeam and one for the custom):
1) Quickbeam set:
Front - Schmidt SONdelux wide body laced to a 32 hole green Velocity A23 rim
Rear - Phil Wood double sided freewheel (green) laced to a 32 hole green
Velocity A23 rim
You may have guessed my Quickbeam is green.

A quick dynohub point...
I have around ten years and many, many thousands of miles on a Shimano
DH3-N70. It has been great to ride, and I sort of forgot it was there,
until I recently started trying out other wheels. In general, the drag is
so low you don't notice it unless you're really

At some point you're in the business of providing watts to a lighting
device. Watts in watts out. The benefits to having all-day lighting are so
obvious to me that my legs will just have to pay the small price.*

thoroughly enjoyed it.
I also thoroughly enjoy how you applied that principle to bicycle

If I bought a wheelset from RBW, I would ask for Grand Bois 650b rims -
black label, laced to a SONdelux wide body hub for the front wheel. Spokes
would be whatever Rich recommended.
My GB Hetre and GB Cyprus tires have aired up and bead set with practically
no trouble on my Grand Bois 650b
PS - your choice of dyno hub is best selected by what features you want out
of a hub, so the ones we recommend may not be best for you. I am sure Rich
could let you know which hub would suit your needs best.
