David,
I agree with Manny, for commuting Marathons are workhorses. I hate to write
this for fear my hubris will bring down the wrath of the tire Gods, but I
think it has been 5 years since I had a flat, and that flat was a rim tube
pinch as a result of a hurried rim tape job. It reads like you
We use Panaracer Hi-Road 26x1.75 on our touring tandem. They're a pretty
nice tyre - don't know how the price compares with the Schwalbe. They're
also available in 1.5 size.
You can also get Pasela in 26x1.75 - eg:
Building a bike up that needs solid commuter but non-tank-like 26X1.75
tires. Schwalbe Marathons (HS420) look to be about what I think I need, but
any other suggestions at lower price points?
Thanks!

Thanks Michael. I was actually just looking at those and more specifically
the T-Serve Messengers. I figure the messengers might be a little sturdier
than the Paselas, but have never used any so don't know.

The T-servs are pretty nice. Had them on an Atlantis for awhile.

If it were mine, that's what I would probably get, but it's a build for
someone that wants to try commuting and I think would prefer having the
peace of mind that Marathons provide. Retail is about the same for both,
which was unexpected.
