My two cents...I run Paul’s long V-brakes, with Cane Creek drop bar V-brake
levers. I put on long salmon mountain bike pads and the braking is phenomenally
powerful, but I have to deflate my tire to remove the wheels, as the pads don’t
clear the fork. They work better than my hydraulic discs on
Why would it be blue under the red paint?
Repaint?
Or
Do they do custom paint over stock paint when you order custom color?

Yeah, I was tempted to offer what I think it's worth, but the idea of insulting
someone over a bike I don't really need seemed like a bad idea. Nope!

Some odd things from the CL description versus the pictures:
It does NOT have a CK headset, but an Ultegra one
Front derailleur is Ultegra, NOT Campy
Front wheel seems askew in the fork
Crank looks like it is missing a bolt (go one CCW from the crank when

Thanks, Jeffrey, good to know. I'm 98/100 happy with 10 cogs in back, but
it would be nice to have a 13 in front of the present small 14 cog, so I'll
keep that in mind.

I can cap Tom's story (but not to my personal advantage, more's the pity).

give you whole bikes and boxes of kit, which you then sell. I bought many a
Thanks for WETH for the pic of his Cheviot and to Bill Lindsey for his
recent review of Albastache bars on his Roadini in another post. I've
followed this thread with interest because I've had an Albastache bar
sitting in the garage since last spring and didn't know what to do with it.

I don't know the story of how the bike came to Velocity but it's a
respected shop in a pretty well to do area... They pass a couple gems
through every year.
The black frame is pretty forgiving, the photos don't show just how much
abuse the bike has seen, I do know it wasn't rideable when it came

Nice initial review, Bill. I've been thinking about Albastaches since I
started building my Sam up, but just can't commit to trying them. I have tried
Soma mustache bars, but never could get along with those.

You would be surprised what people give away or sell for cheap when it's a
little dirty or rusty. Someone had a bike trainer for $90 on Craigslist. He
was giving away the bike that he used with it. Bridgestone lugged steel
touring bike IN MY SIZE. It was sold before I could get over there.
Hmmm...my last bump probably seems redundant compared to my 26th October
bump. Can anyone go $55.00 shipped CONUS? Please PM me if you wish to
proceed? Thanks. Steven.

Patrick,
We (wife and me) have been friction shifting for oh, maybe 10 years now.
Mostly 9 speed because it works wonderfullywe just got rando-type bikes and
went to the dark side (11 speed drivetrain). To be fair, both bikes came stock
with 11 speed. We did appreciate the dual-control

Such a cool find! Nothing like that turns up here, just old Huffies. Glad
you could grab it. It is so fun to be that one in a hundred who can spot a
jewel hidden in plain sight.

I didn’t know the photos were doing that; so sorry. Thanks to another

You know, I hate yo be a big downer, but I hafta wonder how a bike like that
ends up on the adoption stack @ a Co-op!?
My overwhelming initial feeling is that it's probably Hot. Did they have some
inkling to it's provenance?

As nice as ANT bikes are, this one looks like it’s been ridden hard and put
away wet more than once. Anyone not “in the know” would look at this and just
see a used bike with rust and scratched-up paint.
